This book seems very informative. Though I am not from America, I think that the image of public schools is somewhat similar everywhere. Your review was very helpful in understanding the concept of the book.

@ adinamurariu - Agree, my mom was a teacher all her life (now she is retired), and this is an important book even if you are an educator in another country.

@Basya - Wow, two educators/teachers on my review. That is awesome! Thank you so much for coming by and for finding this review useful.

@ReviewerDiksha - Yes, it is, indeed. I am not from the US either, and I could very much relate.

Thanks, Kislany, you've got me sold on reading the book. At first I thought it would not be fore me, because my children are now out of the school system. But as I read, I realized this is still an issue for all of us, whether we have loved ones in the school system or not. What we do have is future voting citizens and now more than ever educated ones are needed.

I love that this book addresses the public school system. Especially since it is something that so many families have questions about.

Great Review! 8)

Awesome review Kislany! As a teacher, I, too, agree that a number of parents aren't as concerned as they should be with their children's studies. I also didn't know that the stigma associated with public schools cuts across international borders. Congrats to the author for handling it expertly. Too bad the numerous errors had to affect the rating.

I like that this book does not just focus on the problem with public schools but provides solutions on how to improve them.

I've never really been drawn to non-fiction books as they tend to bore me to tears, but you have given a really good review. I find it a bit ironic that the subject is about education, yet it had so many grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors. I guess it goes to show that even great educators are capable of making errors. Appreciated your review.

The review gives a positive insight on the role of public schools in the United States of America. Previously I have interacted with families that preferred home schooling to sending their children to the public schools.
Educating one's child is arguably a challenging task to a parent given the trends in today's society.
The review alone provided a clear picture of what is entailed in this book.
The major emphasis of the need for parents to be interested in how the schools where their children are attending are managed.
Schools are not only places where good exam grades are made but where the whole person of the child is moulded.
This calls for parents to pay a little more attention to the child's progress in school.
Thus the book is timely and it's review has only assisted in sending an important message to stakeholders in the education sector within the United States.
