The author has done a good job in presenting her ideas to the present world situations. The impact "IT" has on this world, the influence it has on our lives has been present. Good review by the reviewer in reminding us about this.

A non-fiction revolving the conception and evolution of literacy and orality, and it explores misunderstandings of cultural practices? Wow, this sounds intense! It's great to hear that this is the most interesting text you've come across in a while, and that you found the presentation of the information beneficial, well-presented, and well-researched. I believe the topic is too complex/academic for me to enjoy, but I'm glad that you enjoyed it so much! Thank you for sharing!

Based on the review this sounds like an informative book that literary lovers will definitely appreciate. Personally I prefer a lighter storyline with some adventure or a good thriller, but I can appreciate the enthusiasm of the author’s ideas. Thanks for the review.

This book appeals to me as an Anthropologist also, which makes the book a must read for me. Orality most times is seen by people as something that is not definite unless it is written down. This could be a false assumption because I believe that most of the things written down existed in the oral phase and much thinking goes in to it as well. For instance the folklores that is passed from one generation to another which exists in oral form has a lot of imbued concrete thought in them. Having said this I believe the book is a timely one.

For me, it wasn’t as easy of a read for you as I was going through the sample today. I did glean some good points like you mentioned in your review, but this book really is geared for a certain reading group. It fascinates me how we have so many different genres to read and our interests are vast. Glad you found a deep interest in this one because like I said, it was a struggle for me. Good job on this insightful review...it actually helped me make sense of the book!

Hmm... a literary text that deals with the conception and evolution of two seminal cultural practices that are universally observed and celebrated: literacy and orality. In other words, ability to read and to write. This book looks academic and I'm sure a lot will benefit from it. Unfortunately, it's not my type of book. Thank for the review.

While I think this is an interesting and worthwhile subject, this book appears to be written for an academic audience, not the everyday reader. Granted, I only read the sample available on Amazon. Perhaps some sections are more down-to-earth than others. But generally speaking, I think any book that hopes to reach a wide audience needs to be written in a more general style.

I perfer to read for entertainment than education so I probably wouldn’t personally choose this book. However this review does make it sound interesting and intriguing.

Thank you for your very interesting review. As a former literature student, I can certainly understand your fascination. I love reading about how culture and literature (oral or written) intertwine. And we are, as a society, definitely in times of change. This book goes straight to my shelves.

Wonderful review, which confirms my assessment. I definitely will be reading this and your thoughts are appreciated. I like how you used 'esoteric' and suggest it's still important for thinking outside that. That's what I took from it. Thank you!
