Re: Official Review: So what if another man screws your wife
I never actually thought of what made him want to write it. Honestly, now that I've read it, I feel like it was just an excuse to try and publish his poetry. There was more insight into the poetry than the actual body of the book!Miriam Molina wrote: ↑02 Jun 2018, 19:18 I wonder what spurred the author to write this story. It made me recall 30th Century Escape and Jennifer Hero. That character's marriage seems to be the perfect example for the controversial lesson this book teaches. I don't think I'll need that lesson anytime soon.
Thanks for taking the challenge to read and review this book, Bianka Walter!
And I'm with you, I don't think I need that lesson either.
Thanks, as always, for your great comments

This book is definitely not for religious people. One of the chapters (that I didn't delve into in my review) was on Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden. He starts by saying, "What a drag! There was no one to cheat with." And then delves into how Adam and Eve understood the true nature of sex. Now, I am not a religious person, but I found this utterly distasteful. I think it's fine for the author to promote free thinking in opposition to religious beliefs, but I don't think that he should then drag the teachings of the Bible into it.vddjhedz14 wrote: ↑02 Jun 2018, 21:17 This book is not my type. Yeah, we're now in a modern world. Most people are now liberated but we must not forget our traditions and the teachings of our religion specially Catholic which prohibits the way the author wants to deliver in this book.
Anyway - that's my two cents worth

Well, there is a part of the book that states that he is not promoting open marriage (he contradicts himself a lot...), because open relationships are "emotionally dangerous". He advocates true sharing. For me, I don't see how the two are different, and again - he does a poor job of explaining it.
Anyway, thank you gen_g and CatInTheHat for commenting, I really appreciate it

Well, exactly. He says, as humans, we have animal instincts. What he doesn't realise is that, as humans, we will naturally become jealous in certain situations. Especially ones he is suggesting.joshfee77 wrote: ↑03 Jun 2018, 06:14 Love the honesty of your review! Seems like the author based his book on some flimsy research and a real stream of consciousness approach to the writing, which doesn’t work for me when it comes to non-fiction. And of course the subject matter is highly contentious. All very well to say “just let go of your jealousy” but in reality, I think most people in committed relationships would struggle with this.

I completely agree with you. My sentiments exactly. I will be avoiding this one.Nmadinachi Egwim wrote: ↑02 Jun 2018, 11:21 This one is a total no-no for me. Apart from the overall theme being unappealing, the fact that the author tried to broach an unpopular ground, that encourages some free-thinking, yet is being stereotypical is ironic. And that's just a few of many things that turn me off about the book. Thanks for your detailed review!

It's weird, right? Well, I suppose by the end of the book, nothing shocked me.

He actually brought up animals mating for life. He went on to say that human's do not fall into that category, and that we were made to procreate. So the more partners, the better.cpru68 wrote: ↑03 Jun 2018, 10:26 Just the title was a total absolutely not for me. As I was reading your review and the author’s suggestions and opionions that people should give way to their animalistic side, does he know how many animals mate for life? It sounds like he is forgetting about the vows people make to one another in a marriage..to each other. Wow! This one really makes me wonder where people get their ideas from, and my dislike of the subject is not “religion” based. It’s humanity based and the idea of commitment. Good job on your review, and just like you, I’m out to lunch on poetry usually.

And I agree, people making vows is not a societal thing. It's a personal thing.

Agreed!!!! Very well written response. I'm appalled by this book to be completely open about it. Unfortunately, there probably is a larger market for this book than we want to know about.cpru68 wrote: ↑03 Jun 2018, 10:26 Just the title was a total absolutely not for me.
