This is a truly emotional story but it gives hope to others who might be facing such challenges, especially parents. It gladden my heart so much that the boy survived and that the parents, Mark and Mary, now help other children with similar health challenges.

At first glance I wouldn't select it, as it appears to be heavy and sad reading. After reading the first ten pages, I realize that this is the story of a very dedicated family; however, I see too much context and details that are too heavy to read, in my opinion. It is an impressive and inspiring story. At the same time sad for everything they had to go through, and always with love for their family first.

This book recounts the successful story of a young boy who overcomes a zero percent chance of surviving cancer. The story is told from the parents point of view as Louis' dad documented everything throughout the seven years of fighting the battle with cancer. Congrats on the success and the BOTD!

As a father, I have a lot of empathy for what Mr Unger has gone through and honestly wonder whether I could endure watching my child go through the painful procedures he describes. I mostly feel gratitude that my children have not had to go through brave little Louie's ordeal.

This is a very emotional and inspiring book. The cancer-fighting journey is excruciating for adults, so I can't imagine its impact on a child. It takes remarkable strength to survive, along with the tremendous support of loved ones. Thanks for this great review!

How incredible that this child defeated all odds with his survival. I’m not sure I would be able to read this book because Cancer is so tragic, but I’m sure many readers can find value in the story these parents share about their resilient son!

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting memoir about a young boy’s recovery from cancer told from his parents perspective. It appears to be worth a second look. Well done.

This is a very inspiring book. Lou is very strong, and I'm glad his parents shared with us his journey to cancer recovery. This makes me feel so proud of him and it also gives so much hope for every cancer patient.
Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen

I hate to admit this, but I seldom read this type of book. The emotional toll these families go through hit to close to home. Thank you for reading and reviewing this book.

Mark and Ellen are parents to two young children, Louis (age 3) and Harry (age 5). Mark shared the profound narrative of Louis's remarkable journey from a dire prognosis of "zero chance of survival" to his inspiring achievement as the First Survivor.

The saga began with Mary Ellen, Louis’ mother, observing an unusual gait in their three-year-old son. Subsequent tests unveiled the presence of a rare ailment, Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease. Despite interventions, Louis' condition did not improve, revealing a more severe affliction. The family embarked on a seven-year odyssey marked by extensive tests, scans, protocols, and treatments.

The author's meticulously detailed notes enriched the book's depth. They effectively captured every sentiment, conversation, and perspective of the individuals involved, offering readers a comprehensive understanding of the journey.

Indeed, I observed a few grammatical inconsistencies in the provided sample. Furthermore, the author might have streamlined the narrative by avoiding the repetition of full names for family members and medical professionals. While their complete names served an introductory purpose, subsequent references could have been simplified to their first names for conciseness and fluidity.

While absorbing the sample, a recurrent reflection was on how Mark and Ellen managed their emotions before their two children. Their resilience amid such challenging circumstances was truly remarkable. May no parent ever have to endure such a trial!

Mark and Mary Ellen sound like incredibly strong people; I'm glad they stuck to their guns and asked questions, and even changed hospitals when they weren't happy. Childhood trauma and illness are so difficult to read about. Thank you so much for the excellent summary of the events.
