I do not love reading autobiographies. However, the premise, storyline, and plot development of this very book seem interesting. I particularly love the story behind Thomas and I'd love to read in detail what he went through in his family and the navy. Congratulations on the book of the day.

You're right to say that we must appreciate the little things in life. Tom's life seems hopeless and yet he perseveres to survive a dysfunctional family. If that's possible, then, surely, there's always hope.

Finding it in yourself to forgive those who caused you pain is an amazing feat in itself. Thanks for the review.

The book itself is great, the fact that is written in first person narrative and explores the dark secrets, pain ,sorrow, desolation ,agony and abject solitude brings tears to my eyes. The author having gone through PTSD and able to recollect all these incidence together makes the book worth reading. Its touching and emotional.

it takes courage to write such a book. I commend the author for sharing what he went through. There are positive teachings like forgiveness and how one can change their life around no matter what. Good review.

My heart really aches for the children who grows up in that kind of a toxic environment. But then again that shapes them to be who they are and reach the success in life. Congrats on BOTD!!

I know this is some kind of poignant story, a book that we can learn something about. But, to be honest, i don't like the book cover. Anyway, the review has piqued my curiosity. I am definitely going to read this book. Thanks

Thank you for sharing your review with us. It sounds like this author had to endure many hardships while growing up. I wish him all the best, but I don’t believe I am in the right frame of mind to read this kind of book currently.

I can't help sympathize with the narrator. It seems a good book though the cover is kinda odd. Wonderful review.

This trilogy seems like it is going to be very intense and very detailed. I am pretty excited to read this because I have a feeling that it is going to give me more perspective on anyone that has been over seas and has PTSD. Also, the rapes and harassment that he felt is going to be very painful in parts for me where I can really relate.

As the saying goes, ”experience is the best teacher, ” I am certain that reading this autobiography would give me the experience of the writer and I can learn from it. I'll recommend this to those who have had a toxic childhood.

I can’t imagine going through what the writer has, but I’m glad that he has overcome it all to the point that he feels that he can write about it. We all have our struggles, and sometimes it helps to find those that we can relate to. There are probably some valuable lessons in here as well. Thank you for the helpful review.

Going through drug abuse and PTSD in the presence of parents who contributed to these shows a lot of struggle that the author went through. I hope this is a story of triumph at the end.

The author's life experiences are indeed inspirational and would help others to battle their own mental prisons as well. I truly hope this book can aid those living in a dysfunctional family dynamic. Thank you for the detailed review.

I think this would be a good read especially if you like autobiographies. I don't personally read them, but the review made it sound quite interesting.
