The book doesn't exist in a vacuum. Martin provides a valuable historical perspective on how societal perceptions of mental illness have evolved, from the asylums of the past to the online communities of the present.

Thank you for the excellent review of "Reconceptualizing Mental Illness in the Digital Age" by Elliott B. Martin, Jr. It seems like this book may be akin to a textbook and the lecture notes collection from a certain professor or doctor. It could be that it is the tone that the author wanted to give the reader.
If you're going through hell, keep going.

"Reconceptualizing Mental Illness in the Digital Age" is like a complex maze exploring the mind, mixing old wisdom with modern problems of the digital age."
Life is a play where we are the actors and the audience, We laugh and cry, love and hate, create and destroy,
We seek to know ourselves and others, to belong and to be free, We accept what we can and change what we must.

Congratulations on the BOTD award. The author is a psychiatrist and an ancient language specialist. This also includes a bit of history. A special group of readers may find this book educative.

A book with a mix of psychiatry and history addressing current issues? It sounds interesting. The author's personal thoughts and ideas, along with scientifically backed data, seem to interest readers who enjoy reading psychology. He talks about mental health issues that stem from the media and how some people take up alcohol as a coping mechanism, among other things. Although some text seems confusing from what I gather from your review, a one-time read wouldn't hurt. Brilliant review!

It's mental wellness month and the book being featured as the book of the day this month is a way of recognizing mental well-being. I would love to read the book and learn from the author about mental illness, from his perspective, and also get to find out how he used Donald Trump's hair to address certain issues related to media and the internet.

I agree with the reviewer, if one is not into academic writings, they may find the book difficult to read and boring. But I'll take the risk and read the book regardless.

Congratulations on being the BOTD.

A study of a range of mental illnesses related to this day and age and the technology that surrounds our everyday life. Sounds like an eye opening read, I’m sad that the writing style is sometimes confusing but thanks for sharing that in your review!

“Reconceptualizing Mental Illness in the Digital Age” by Elliott B. Martin, Jr. is a book authored by a psychiatrist and ancient language specialist. The main issues behind mental illness including suicide, identity, the media and Donald Trump’s hair. Martin included many personal opinions as well as scientifically researched ideas. The official reviewer found numerous sentences written that were clearly confusing and required reading them multiple times. Giving the book a 2 out of 4 stars based on the confusing sentences and recommending the book for intellectuals that have the patience to read it. This book is only available in hard cover and paperback formats, so an eBook sample was not provided. Therefore, based on the official review I do not plan to read this book. I would like to learn why Donald Trump’s hair is linked to mental illness.

Thank you for sharing your detailed review of "Reconceptualizing Mental Illness in the Digital Age" by Elliott B. Martin, Jr. It sounds like a thought-provoking read that delves into complex issues surrounding mental health and modern society. It's great that the author combines personal insights with scientific research, although it seems the writing style might not be for everyone. Your recommendation for intellectuals and psychology students helps give potential readers a clearer picture of the target audience.

After reading the description of this book in reviews, I came to the conclusion that it sounds awfully like specialized literature for psychologists and psychiatrists. I personally am neither, moreover, I was never interested in studying mental issues even at an amateur level and therefore prefer to pass the book. Apologies and congratulations!

What a thorough review! Your critique of the author's style is very insightful. I appreciate books that challenge me, and it seems this one offers a unique perspective on mental health. I'm definitely interested in exploring its contents despite the potential challenges.

I enjoy reading books about mental health and the dangers of substance addiction. But it seems from this review that reading it is tiresome. I would still give the book a try later though.

The topics covered in this book make it an interesting read. I enjoy in-depth topics, but this book is not for me, so I'll give it a pass. Thank you for the review.
