From a sampling, this seems like an interesting memoir about the author's early life and how the decisions made and events that occurred made him who he is now. He discusses the issues with racial discrimination that occurred while he grew up and how he was raised to fight against discrimination and respect everyone. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

The author covered many important events in history and the way he described his upbringing was detailed. While almost everyone is familiar with the draft and Cuban missile crisis, it is different when you read from someone who lived through it. The stories the author shared about his childhood made me feel like I was living in that time. Congrats on botd!

Thank you for a great review. I also liked how he wrote it very straightforward and like a novel. I have added it to my list of books to read. I do like memoirs like this and the fact that is was just about 10 years before my time makes it even more interesting.

This is obviously a very frank memoir where the author bares it all. Runts? You can't imagine how many of us were runts growing up. But today, the story has changed. Interesting memoir. Beautiful review

I remember a time my kid asked a question, and my friend got seriously angry. It was his wife that explained why she would ask a question such as she did. Raising your kids to be human and not see race is fairly easy. You treat everyone the same. Great review

Great review. I might not be one of the readers for this but autobiographies are good sources of knowledge. This also tackled racial discrimination which is good cause it raises awareness. Thanks for the review.

I could easily relate with James as a young one trying to find balance. School, social life and church. I am not a big fan of biographies but I definitely will check this one out. This review seems simple yet detailed.

Great review. From the preview I read, I can tell this book is going to a matter of fact type of coming-of-age story. Morgan captures the reader with his easy flowing dialog between the characters in his life. In the brief preview, already the reader can easily relate to Morgan in his empathy and way of showing emotions even though it wasn't common during that day for men to do so. Definitely a book I would read.

I enjoy biographies that show raw emotion, ranging from the good to the bad and including everything in between. It is cool that this book reads like a novel, too. Thanks for the review and recommendation!

I like to see that the author shared moments that can be considered embarrassing, it shows his intention to be sincere and authentic in sharing his story. The themes of racial discrimination and segregation make this story quite interesting. This is definitely a book I would like to read. Thanks for sharing this review.
