While I could lose some weight, I'm not sure I want to use some specialized plan like this. I like the whole "mind over matter" kind of approach, but I'd have to discuss this book with my doctor before deciding if it will really help me. Thank you for the helpful review.

Well, though i thought it was a, historical fantasy book of sorts from the title but all the same i liked the feel of it, a step by step guidline on weight management and how it could be associated to the mind, I'd definitely recommend this book to any associate of mine having weight problems...

I have added this book to my reaading list because I like the author's simple and straighforward approach to the issue of weight loss. I agree with him that planning, patience and preparation are the key to a healthy lifestyle. I'll check his 9 Phases System and see what comes of it. Thanks for an interesting review!

I observe a strict diet keeping processed foods off my shelves. I am glad that the author takes the reader through a step by step process on how to live a healthy life. I won't be reading the book but I hope those who are struggling in this area find it helpful.

I'm actually in need of the opposite of this book but I like that it is well organized and structured. Thanks for the review.

This sounds like the book for me as I am struggling with my weight. I actually took a sentence from the review that I am sure would prove useful; changing my mental attitude towards food. Congrats to the author for winning BOTD as I look forward to reading the rest of the book.

"Mr. Khan details his struggles with food addiction, and while some of it has to do with the ingredients of the meal contributing to overeating, he also wants his audience to realize that our diet and unhealthy lifestyles are based on habits and mental attitudes toward food. When these two forces work in tandem, it makes it difficult to get rid of unwanted fat and maintain healthy body weight." I be live that some can gain additional ideas on another weight to approach their weight loss journey. The only thing that is concerning to me is when it os mostly thought people are overweight because of overeating. That is definitely some of the cases, but other reasons are under eating, thyroid or other health issues. I suffer from weight gain due to thyroid..not because I am inactive or that i over eat. I worked out with trainers on a meal plan it it never worked. I only found out I had underactive thyroid due to testing while I was pregnant. So anyway, not all people have a bad mindset on food, some times they have unknown reason for the weight gain.

I like the idea "You are what you think." When we want to achieve something but that thing we want to achieve is not imprinted in the mind, achievement is almost zero. Any thing we want, be it weight loss, body building, professional qualifications or material wealth, with determination and a focused mind, we will achieve. The review is well articulated and from it I have formed a mental picture of how good the book is. It is not there just to help people struggling with overeating. I think the principles in the book can guide someone to achieve anything in life. This is a job well done. I want to read this book.

The best advice on weight loss comes from a person who actually did it, succeeded in losing weight and went on to live a healthy, happy, productive life. Rez Khan's Zeus Defied shows us how he saved his life from a life of illness and pain towards a life of fitness and wellness. Congratulations to Mr. Khan and thanks OnlineBookClub.org for this BOTD!

Having read the first few chapters of the book, I can say the book's written well -- clearly and effectively. As for most self-help books, I always look at the structure of the guide, and I can say that the book is structured well: purpose, objective, targets, introduction of methods by explaining the premise and discussion of methods. The use of Sisyphus' story in Greek mythology is apt and powerful. Rez Khan says the mountain on which the dieter is trying to push up the boulder is the person himself and the boulder is the futile method that he or she uses to lose weight. Therefore, he asks the reader to quit this cycle of futility by giving up the boulder (methods that don't work) and take down the Mountain, which is oneself. By taking the down the mountain, Khan is asking the reader to know oneself, why he or she is doing things in a certain way and realize that the problem and the solution start in the person's mind. Once the person realizes that, he or she can take the first important step -- to move away from toxic and counter-productive habits and environment that lead the person to eat unhealthy foods and be overweight. After mentally preparing oneself for the mission, one can now fully embark on Khan's 9 phases of weight loss, permanently lose weight and regain one's energy and vitality for good.

Thanks to cpru68 for the helpful review of Khan's book. Of the 4-star rating, the reviewer credits the book for its "authentic approach to exposing the underlying forces that work against weight loss and how to have victory once and for all."

There are nine phases that he depicts through easy to read charts and substantial scientific evidence to support his conclusions. His testimony of how he has incorporated these into his daily routine to give him freedom from obesity is the platform from which he speaks.
I like these nine phases. They have been well elaborated. Thanks for this review.

This is an eye-opener for everyone who wants to lose weight. It is very informative, realistic and inspirational. The author's point of view motivates us to think above and beyond the cycle of losing and gaining weight or have it vice versa. Good book!
