Your observation about wanting more stories from George's adult life resonates with me. It's natural to crave a deeper exploration of his later years, but perhaps the focus on childhood memories adds to the poignancy of the narrative, highlighting the lasting impact of our formative years.

I like how the author narrates his family's journey and history as they moved from Hungary to the point they settled in US. I am intrigued that the only opportunity that the author gets to meet his father for the first time is at the death bed. thanks for the review.

This is such an inspiring read. I am absolutely thrilled to see that some families, who faced the unthinkable, manage to gain strength to tell their stories, from their point of view.

The quote you highlighted perfectly captures the essence of the memoir, making it easy for readers to connect with George's journey. It's fascinating how the author intertwines personal experiences with universal themes of identity and belonging.

It is a known fact that our environment plays a vital role in molding us. But at the end of the day, it is always our decision that matters. We can choose how to be influenced by our environment and what to become of it. This book will either change my perspective completely or strengthen it more. Whatever it is, I am up for it.
Good review. I got a complete idea of the book.

I love an incredibly profound and compelling story. The author has done well. Strolling through the pages of this book will help me see the world as it was in the 90s. I would love to know what it was like locating a lost relative, especially a parent.

The concepts of home and fatherhood are sensitive, because they go a long way to shape us into who we become. To me, a home is where you find refuge, and a father is not just a sperm donor, but one who is there to raise you lovingly.
Thank you for the review.

The Reluctant Refugee is the story of George, his family, and his colourful childhood. I wonder how his father must've reacted to finally meeting him on his deathbed. Congrats to the author on the BOTD!

Hi @Amy_Jackson, I totally agree with your comments on the Reluctant Refugee. Fathers are supposed to be there for their children. I enjoyed the free sample and the official review and I will probably read the entire book. Thanks for your comments. @Mrlefty0706
