i understand that i only read the sample on amazon, but i still don't know that I'd like this book. hasan's review says that the author compared china to our model. well, i hope so, because at the very least i would want to speak of how big business is trying to wipe out the standard of living by going over to Mexico in the 90's, and then china in the new century. in fact, stores like Walmart, and the dollar stores, as well as the online websites, could be used as the perfect example. American corporations combined together with communist countries have been the reason for an emergence of American national socialism. still, reading the sample that i did lead me to think that the author left out a lot, because i no longer believe the author's version of our history, anymore. i think our banks and government have committed fraud against us since the civil war, and so i don't feel that we are as free as the writer believes we are. indeed, i think that a lot of inventions have been withheld from the public, which could have filled in a whole other book.

Collaborating between a seasoned entrepreneur and a writer is perfect for addressing important issues like entrepreneurship.
By comparing America to other countries, such as Japan, China, and England, we can see America's frontier role in entrepreneurship. Of particular interest to me is the story of companies well known to me like Uber. Thank you for this comprehensive review.

This looks like a really fascinating book on business. Everyone should take a course in this area at least once in their lifetime. Economics and business are fundamental subjects for a good citizen.

“Launchpad Republic” by Howard Wolk and John Landry is a book that shows how political and economic systems changed in the U.S. to control the relationships between incumbents and upstart companies. Included in the upstart companies are stories about Uber and other “taxi” type companies that struggled to survive and expand. The authors summarized the book chapter by chapter at the beginning of the book and this made it easier for readers to see what to expect before they even start chapter one. Incumbent company stories include AT&T, A&P, Standard Oil and U.S. Steel. I look forward to reading this book to learn more about the upstarts and how the incumbent companies have not done as well as they did in the distant past. The authors used extensive in-depth research to write this book and they focused on entrepreneurial skills and tactics to succeed. The U.S. markets encourage entrepreneurial companies but there is no guarantee for success. American companies have dominated the world with unicorns but China may overtake them in near future since China has 4 times the number of people. The failure companies could be analyzed in a sequel to a book titled “The Biggest Marketing Fails of All Time”. Former incumbents Sears, Montgomery Wards, Carson Perie Scott, American Motor Co., Ford Motor Co., K-Mart and Wieboldt’s just to name a few.

The main aim of Launchpad Republic is not just to praise America but to portray it accurately as it is. It is mentioned by the authors that American entrepreneurs are facing some difficulties, and they explain here how the country can continue to be in a dominant position.

This sounds like a great book for anyone who's interested in the American Entrepreneurial culture. I like that the author compared entrepreneurship in other countries to that of America. Congratulations to the author for being both the Book of the Day and the April Book of the Month!
Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen
