In my country you will often hear elders sayi g that their times were harder. They will often refer to lack of electricity, proper medical care etc. This is a good reminder that one's perception defines the caliber of the person inside. Good review.

I like the fact that the book promotes strong family values, but the autor is no storyteller. Although I appreciate that she writes with honesty and candor and shares family pictures, I'll not be reading the book mainly because the author's style is too simplistic and the story too uneventful. Thanks for your review, though.

I still can't stop laughing :P :P :D about the part that says that she can still remember the time the chicken they wanted to slaughter for dinner flew away.. those kinds of silly memories are hardly erased, I can't imagine my self forgetting such either.

The author's life journey seems entertaining and fulfilling. One way to appreciate her willingness to share her story is by listening to her narrate the story. Am happy to see that the book left a smile on your face. I will consider the book.

When i saw sixty-two pages its like a light bulb went up in my head. I definitely would like to read this book not because it's short, but, I believe there's so much to learn. Thanks for the great review.

Wow! This is the type of memoir that I will find joy in reading about the simplicity of life back then. I trust your judgement in this. Thanks for your insightful review!

I'm not in the mood to read memoirs right now. Though the book seems to deliver a nice story, I will leave it. Congats on BOTD.

This book reminds me of the days i spend with my late grand mother. Every word she gave was a teaching in life and i fear young people will miss this vital lessons in life if such memoirs are not told. The bond between family members and annual re-unions is taking a natural death and young generations have a lot to learn from this golden ways of living from our grand parents.

I like readig memoires as they give you a glimpse into someone else's life. This book seems to be filled with happy memories ( although I'm sure the author had her fair share of hardship) which makes a nice, relaxing read. Thank you for the review!

I sampled the book on Amazon. The memoir of a simple and humble life by Gertrude Coulter is written in a simple and intriguing manner. As mentioned in the review by Mercy Bolo, this sixty-two pages book will be enjoyed by anyone looking for a quick read, lovers of memoirs, and anyone who grew up in the simpler times. Cheers!

:tiphat: This books shows how one can overcome the various challenges in life, even the challenges of single parenthood. You background doesn't matter. Though you should have warned against dangers of Single parenthood also, so our younger ones will learn to abstain, and not engage in premarital intimacy. Great book though

What a nice review! The summary of this story makes me think about how different my life could be if I lived a childhood like that. I am impressed, at her age, all that she's done and how she keeps her memories alive. I can't believe, though, how she could tell her whole story in a few pages. One would expect such a story to be written in a series, by decades or something like that.

I enjoyed this review! Thank you! :D
