Sadly, opiates are one of the top drugs that people abuse. Families are in shambles over this epidemic that teenagers are becoming users of every day. I'm going to add this to my list of books that I want to read this year.

This book hits close to home, and I could hardly tear myself away from the sample. Addiction is a disease in every sense of the word, and many people die trying to break out of it. I absolutely love the approach of this book, written by the mother of a son struggling with addiction, that includes letters, conversations, and stories from them both. It truly humanizes a devastating affliction. Thanks for the wonderful review!

It sounds like a meaningful book, with the deeper views of drug addiction and loosing a loved one to drugs

Thank you for the very touching and heartfelt review. Your scope of this book shows a lot of what to expect without giving away anything good. Amazing job
I also enjoyed what I read of the sample given as well.

This is tragic, I am wondering what exactly led to David's death. Is it the accident or the drug? I look forward to reading this great book. Thanks for a detailed review. Nice job.

I can understand the reason for David's addiction. The amputation stuck him deep and hard. I appreciate Patricia (his mom) for crafting this book and laying out the bare truths. Thanks for the review. Congrats on the BOTD!

I have never read a book about addiction that written by a mother, a very strong person hurting because her son is fighting a disease at an early age. I'm sure, even if I am not a mother, that no mother wants their children to succumb into the abuses of addiction. That's why I'm intrigued to read this, what does a mother feel when they see their children openly suffering?

Thank you for the wonderful review!

A well written review; an even better literary piece. I join in offering my condolences to the author and heartfelt gratitude for finding the courage to take us unto this personal journey of her son's addiction. Embedded in these pages are much more than the story of a mother and her son's drug addiction journey; these pages are an emotional recollection of a mother's love and sacrifices. Congratulations to the author and the BOTD for not just a great read but for the life lessons contained in these pages.

Writing down one's experience can help the mind of whoever reads it. Patricia and her son experienced a lot of things, and it is necessary to know what despite all misery, they held unto hope. Thanks for your honest review.

Addiction is a very bad thing and it is destroying lives of promising young males and females. It's not a easy thing to lose a loved one. The author did a good job of writing her experiences down so others can learn from it. I hope her family finds closure from David's death. Thanks for the well-written review

I can imagine how hard it must've been for Patricia to lose her son. Addiction greatly affects the family of an addict and people need to understand the importance of handling this situation before it gets out of hand.
