This is a very informative book. Care givers are really undervalued and underpaid.

gali wrote: 11 Jun 2018, 11:16 A nonfiction book that gives us a n humorous peek into the life of a care worker sounds intriguing. That the stories are both relatable and enjoyable is to the credit of the author. Too bad about the lack of polish. Not my cup of tea, but I am glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the review!
The lack of polish wasn’t really bothersome, but I thought it should be mentioned. It added to the appeal of the book being excerpts from a diary. It’s not for everyone, but I appreciate the feedback. :)

Not only did I enjoy reading this review, it made me enjoy the opening of the book that I had read earlier even more. This review was very well-written, and pointed out the essential components that the author used quite effectively to share the often misunderstood life of a care worker. I very much look forward to reading this book, and this review was definitely helpful in moving the book up on my to read list.
Thank you for a great review :tiphat:

It's true that the care workers are the unsung heroes. Often we don't give a thought about them until we or one of our loved ones are in need of them. The book should be an interesting read as it's written by a care worker in his own perspective which gives us in depth knowledge of their selfless sacrifices and struggles. From the outside we can only see their dedication and help only up to an extent. I feel like this book gives us close perspective of a care worker. Thank for the review.

Christopher Bulteel is like the James Herriot of careworkers! That positive, humorous spirit in the face of obvious difficulty reminded me of Herriot quite a bit, as well as the attempts of correctly conveying the unique accents and personalities of his clients.

However, the book will definitely need some professional editing if it's going to have success. You mentioned some grammatical errors; I saw MANY. Also I think an editor could help streamline some of his writing where the sentence structure can be confusing. It is from a diary, but some polish should be added back in before publishing.

Thanks for your review, I enjoyed it as much as you obviously enjoyed the book. This is one of those rare coffee table books that you can't read in one go, it has to be the full absorption of one tale (chapter) - where you mull it over before you can move along. In this way the human suffering won't overwhelm you and give you the chance to truly enjoy the author's humorous outlook.

Thank you for your review! It's sad to know that care workers are paid less when their jobs take more from them. Most of them must be passionate and dedicated to their jobs. I love that this book has humor in it. Truly, we should see the bright side of things.

I agree with the author's points about caregivers being underpaid and not given due credit despite the fact they're giving their whole lives for their patients. I commend the author for being able to write a noble book which includes real life experiences and injecting humour to break the ice. I will certainly give this a read. Thanks for the great review.

Thank you for this great review. When I first read the title of this book, I don't know why I instantly decided not to read. Unusual for me because I will basically read just about anything that seems interesting. I normally keep an open mind about what I will read and as least wait until after reading a sample of the book or comments from reviewers, but I didn't.

Thankfully, I took the time to read the summary and other comments posted and have changed by mind about reading. It takes a certain type of person to work in the care giver field, just like it takes a certain type of person to effectively work with children. I could not do it, but applaud those that can. The information that you detailed in this book really influence my change of heart.

I think people working in this area will easily recognize the situations described in this book. I believe that caregivers have one of the most difficult jobs in the world and It takes a special person to make it a career.

It's so obvious from the way the author writes how much he cares about his clients. The task that is highlighted in the book is really interesting. I would love to take this book up next to read.
