As interesting and educational as this book sounds I don’t think this is something I will be interested in!

A really intriguing look at how humans communicate in different cultures and through the ages, this one needs a better cover to 'sell' it. Your review makes it clear that the book is good and will appeal to the target audience, but the author is going to have to get some better marketing going.

Great review! I'm not one of the esoterics that you mentioned, so I suspect this book is not for me, but it's good to know that the author took time to thoroughly research her subject :)

(Are we entering a new age with new modes of thinking, new concepts of the self, new notions of what it is to be a ‘human being’?) In my own opinion, I believe we are. Initially, I wondered what the title was all about, your review paints a clear picture. I like books that well researched, I just might indulge in this eloquent work.

Is very great that the author make it simple and with finesse to the reader to understand. If the author indeed made extensive research, I don't doubt it's a great read for people familiar to esoteric texts. I am not a literature, social anthropology or history enthusiast so I will pass on this one. Congratulations on BOTD.

I think this is an interesting novel dealing with current political and social systems and thinking. It would make an interesting general read just to know the trends in human thoughts. Nice review.

A well-written narrative that tells about the conception and evolution of literacy and orality. It seems to be very educative. Reading it won't be bad idea. Thanks for the review.

There maybe some aspect that IT will complicate the two cultural practices. But both practices will benefit the IT revolution. Well in fact it will reinforce both. You made me think to read this book with your reviews. Thank you!

Lovely review. The author addresses very important topics because even now we still feel the impact of IT in our lives

I am not a fan of non-fiction books but this book broaches some important themes. This is a good one from Ruth Finnegan. Congrats on BOTD.

Literacy and Orality is an esoteric title by Ruth Finnegan that explores a number of cogent questions. The work is pretty impressive and intriguing, and I might read this soon.
