This novel seems to contain a hard emotional flow of events in the author's life. One lesson to learn from the author is the there is always hope in every challenge. Congratulations on BOTD

That sounds raw and yet funny, a hard mix to achieve! Good memoirs always make you feel like you've lived that life, this sounds like one of those. Thanks for the review!

When I read memoirs such as these I cannot help but be grateful for my blessed life and upbringing. God puts people such as Lewis and his story to encourage us that there is no hurdle that is insurmountable, all we have to do is trust.

The story seems to be sad and emotional. The author passed through bad and terrible things since at young age, i feel bad how parents can't be responsible for their children. Thanks for this insightful review

So sad that the therapist who was supposed to help the poor boy did more harm than good. I also like how the author employed humor while discussing sensitive issues. Thanks for your review.

This sounds like a profound memoir. The author truly overcame a brutal childhood and brings out the issue of poor parenting and battling the associated traumas. Adding humor to the writing makes it more compelling. Amazing review!

It sounds like both a horrific and inspiring story, but I do not know if I can overcome the attributions of person's own wins to a deity... I suppose I'll make my mind up once I sampled it.

Thank you for such a thorough and inspired review!

Parenting is a very sensitive topic to talk about. Kempfer wasn't spared when it came to the effect bad parenting has on children. It was a rollercoaster journey for him. The fact that the psychiatrist also made things more difficult for him is sad to imagine. The book can be triggering for some. Thanks for the review!

From the title, you could tell the writer uses humour as a coping mechanism. Parents really do not know the impact they have on their child's life. It's sad the write had to go through bad parenting. It would be an excellent yet painful read. A careful reminder of what you shouldn't do as a parent. Thank you for your honest review.

Reading the review of this memoir definitely touches on many important aspects of the author's life. There are a lot struggles the author endured over his life and my heart bleeds for him. I admire his bravery and courage to be able to write about his pains from the social, emotional, and physical aspects; while incorporating a sense of laughter through his story telling abilities. I wish him well into his later years of adulthood. Thank you for the review!

It's really sad that Lewis life started getting messy when he was, as little as, four years old. It must have also been difficult for him recounting those ordeal, but I'm grateful there was a turnaround, making him overcome these depressions eating him up. Congrats on Botd.

This is a soul branding review with a touch contextual deposition of vagaries of life in such despairing series that one stands out hero on beating the problems as the protagonist faced! The book revives a lost hope or inspires tenacity!

I appreciate your compassion in reviewing this book. It sounds like the author's intent was to encourage others who have had to survive an abusive childhood.
