This seems like a really interesting study in sociology/politics/culture, especially because it's from the perspective of a Holocaust survivor. Thanks for the review.

I always enjoy a book that relates to the real world and attempts to explain how events happened. Seems like a book that investigates social issues and psychology through relative historical contexts.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting study of society utilizing the concept of spaces. While not my favorite topic, it seems to be worth a second look. Well done.

The author has written about four different social spaces (hidden, closed, transcendent, and meaningful) that make up our environment and shape behavior. Being a Holocaust survivor has surely had an influence on this author, who delves into the understanding of how such inhumanities can be done to people.

While this book sounds fascinating, it is not one I plan on reading soon. I do not read much nonfiction, as one of the reasons I read is to escape real-life drama. But, congrats on BOTD. Social paradigms are interesting, but not what I am looking for right now.

Great review about the society.I enjoys the book fully. They draw the clear figure of the human world. That is the talent for a writer and this is the uniqueness in the book.
This book is written by a brilliant mind. But it should not be read by a teenager because it can transfer bad effect to him.
It's a book of excellence about the moder society and revealed the mirror of human being. So, thank for this review.
Have a nice review.
Thanks.

At my age, I still am amazed of how people could be cruel when it is so easy to just live in peace and harmony. I hope to be enlightened by this book from the very talented and creative author. Congrats!

The writer as a Holocaust survivor, is placed in a good footing to write about man's inhumanity to his fellow man. I look forward to reading it. Nice review.

Glad to hear that it's well organized. I find it interesting how Mr. Katz focused on the Holocaust and the cultural context while attempting to support his social space theories. Nice review.

Holocaust, philosophy and social problems altogether in a book, wow never seen this idea before. Brilliant.

Thanks for your review! Personally, the book sounds a little bit too negative for me. I would like to also hear about the instances where people step up to the plate and do incredible acts of kindness. However, I agree that it's important to learn from our past mistakes and prevent atrocities like the holocaust from happening again. I'm curious to learn more about the concept of different social spaces.

Thank you for an eye opening review. I wouldn't have given the book a second glance but your review is really informative. Mr. Katz attempt to apply nearly-scientific constructs to environments that foster cruelty in order to explore and explain how it is that people can be so callous and cruel is fascinating. I am interested in seeing how the four social spaces explain such occurrences.
