Great job on your review!

I commend authors who put out memoirs. It’s hard to share the ups and downs of life with others. Memoirs are not a genre I enjoy so I won’t be reading beyond the sample but I wish the best to the author.

This book serve as a great lesson to parents, on how parents should be a loving, caring to their children.
It's really too bad for parents to avoid their responsibilities, causing their children to live a very bad life. Imaging a biological father(Dennis) rejecting his blood (kempfer) it's heartbreaking.

This review captures the book spot-on. I only read the free sample of the book, but even from that small tidbit, I gathered how cruel life had been to this man. I especially relate to the fact that many Christian parents try to make their families look perfect on the outside, but at home, it's a completely different story because that was the kind of family I had growing up. I wish I had the mental strength to read this entire book, but I believe it would be too triggering for me.

It seems very emotionally triggering. Being gay must have added extra challenges. The review is very thoughtful. Seems like a book I would love to read..

I don't know. With everything going on in the world, I'm not looking to read about more of it. Even with the humorous bits. But it sounds like a well-written book.
1 Cor 15: 19-20, 26 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead...The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

Wow, bad days are a normal occurrence but rising above them takes will power. Abandonment by a parent can be traumatic but I love that the author chose writing over silence because I am truly inspired by this story. Thanks for a beautiful review.

Great review. I feel so bad for the author. Nobody deserves such a harsh upbringing. I'm glad that he found the strength to overcame it all. The memoir will undoubtedly help people in similar situations.

I can relate to being raised by an abusive man. There is one thing we all have to learn in this life. That we have to overcome our upbringing. We can't use it as an excuse to do wrong. Every parent is just human. We all make mistakes. Some more than others. But you can't let that hold you back or be an excuse to pass on the abuse.

There is hope, yet. Sadly many persons are going through similar heartrending experiences like the author did. I hope that somehow, somewhere they will find the help they crave; possibly through this book. I'm happy the author found some satisfaction in Jesus Christ. May others find that peace too. Thanks for a great review on this BOTD.

Thanks for your review. I've read the sample, and this book seems fairly nice with the author's humor sense despite the somber content.

As a therapist it breaks my heart healing people do harm in my field. I definitely will read this and feel that the tough reads often help us grow our knowledge and competence in the field and just in interacting with others.

Quite heart touching memoir "Don't Mind Me, I'm Just Having a Bad Life" by Lewis Kempfer, which shows that for some people, life can be excruciatingly unfair as in case of Lewis. Loneliness and depression defined his normal, until a major turnaround in his rather old age. The story appears emotionally intense as well as interesting to read.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.
