I am happy to hear from the review that the book radiates positivity. When I saw the title I thought it was a metaphor of some sort. But it is what it says, in the first degree.
Writing is therapeutic for the writer, so good for her that she hopefully cured the sorrow with this book.
And to improve the quote mentioned (Mallory Hopkins: “Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth.”) I would say: Life is short. Smile even when you no longer have teeth!

Under the dark, heavy clouds of Bruce’s impending demise, they went on a search of the silver linings. It’s one of the few times I have read a book about death that radiates so much positivity.
.

A well-written, easy-to-read story about loss that will appeal to fans of memoirs. I like that the story is told in chronological order; plus, it is well edited! Not sure it is for me, but I got my copy! Thank you for the detailed review!

Death is an event that we all must face whether it be someone else's or personally. Based on the review, it sounds like Hoben did an excellent job on running through all the emotions when dealing with death leaving the reader with the two most important ones: peace and hope. Great review!

This is a non-fiction emotional memoir story of loss, grief, hope, and love. The book is temporarily free on Amazon Kindle and has an awesome OnlineBookClub review that highlighted the book perfectly. I rated the book 4 out of 4 stars. Congrats @suehoben on the BOTD selection.

Thanks for your review! I can't imagine dealing with a close loved one having cancer. I don't know much about esophageal cancer, but it doesn't sound good. The concept of a celebration of life party sounds fascinating; it seems like a great way to remain hopeful in the face of despair. I also appreciate that the author shows rather than tells us what's going on in her and her husband's lives.

This sounds like such a deep and inspiring read. It's even better that the author is able to draw crystal-clear images during reading as well, especially when the topics being discussed are not easy (i.e., cancer) Thanks for the review.

While you mention it reads like a novel, I doubt I'd be able to escape it's memoir status. I still get annoyed by any book using the first person POV, so perhaps this isn't the best match for me. Still, it probably can't hurt to pick this one up to pass a rainy day. Thank you for the review, it's good to hear you got something out of it.

It's a heart-touching memoir of love and loss. It's difficult and unbearable to go through such tough times. Definitely, a must-read. Wonderful review.

Awesome review. I can’t wait to finish reading this book. It’s good to know that the story is told well. Life is such a gift — sometimes we need to be reminded not to take it for granted.
