I love the explicit style of narration. I dislike Dennis' selfishness and brutality on his own family. However, this is something that happens a lot in the world today. A parent leaves a child for his own happiness without caring how the move will damage the future of the child in question. Emotional but great read.
The review is great.

It's encouraging to see people, who have been abused as children, become strong and healthy adults. This memoir shows the hard life that Lewis Kempfer had and his struggles to overcome his addictions. Congratulations to the author for having his inspirational book become BOTD. Thanks to the reviewer for your excellent and honest review.

I love this review.I merely comment that, this book has rather explained the kind of feelings of the children,( who stand for Kempfer)which they pass through especially when the parents get divorced. They really pass through many challenges as explained in this book here.

The fact that Kempfer’s life moved from one hurdle to another shows how painful life was to him. This really emotional. Great review.

This sounds like a book that I can relate to but in a different way. Hopefully I can read this.

I'm not a fan of memoirs so I will pass on this one. Great review.

How brave of the author to write about his traumatic childhood; I'm glad he has found peace.

As if it's not hard enough asking for help! It's sad when people who should help others end up making things worse. Well, one cannot expect any less from a 'Fruitcake.' Thanks for the review!

This sounds like an intense and emotional read. From the title, I thought this was going to be a motivational book, but now that I know it’s a memoir I’ll have to check it out! Great review!

Circumstances of life sometimes make life itself tiring and painful. I can understand the author and his many problems. It sounds like a wonderful book and I think I know one or two people who will be interested in reading this.

The open honesty about his past is not something that's easy to do. I am also happy that he was able to have a fulfilling life, but the dark nature of the book combined with the fact that it actually happened is too much for me. Thanks for the review.

I find his story compelling, but I am not at all religious so I am not sure it would be a good read for me. I've found that many people use religion as a cover for being utterly reprehensible human beings. I'm not awfully keen for "how the church saved me" stories. For my own part, I've found devoutly religious people to be cruel and intolerant more often than the reverse being true. :tiphat:
