The part about young Lina running away to join the circus was interesting; that seemed to be a very popular notion among previous generations. Yet, despite her difficult start in life, at least the author was able to turn things around and be successful.

Thanks for your review.

It takes a lot to be an entrepreneur, let alone a successful one. But the book seems to go beyond that and explores the authors experiences in life. It sounds nothing short of awe-inspiring. I just downloaded the book and am looking forward to reading it!
Congrats on being selected as BOTD!

Thank you for the heads up on the fact it may cause a trigger for those who have suffered sexual abuse. I suffer from ptsd due to that and my physical, emotional abuse growing up. I may have to pass on this book. Thank you for your review.

What a story! A terrible beginning didn't stop Lina Kennedy, instead it drove her to improve her situation. An inspiring tale of perseverance.

I don’t think we could get a stronger recommendation for a book. 🙂

I enjoyed the first couple of chapters. This will go on my want-to-read bookshelf as I’m curious to find out what happens in Lina’s life.

The writing in this book is easy to read. The intro starts as a conversation and then moves into immediate action set memories.

One can find a marvelous roller coaster of emotions in the book "The Sugar Queen" by Lina Kennedy, which follows Lina, who was assaulted by her farther since she was a kid, and at a very young age of 14 she tried to take on the world by herself. The story appears to be quite interesting.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

Wow. I'm amazed at how much the author overcame. I know this would be inspiring for others seeking to rise above their circumstances. It's nice, as well, that it's so well written. Thanks!

This book sounds like it conveys a positive and inspiring message about what can be done and how success in life can be achieved despite obstacles and ones background. Despite a lack of higher education, and a childhood that would heave lead many people astray, the author shows how she overcame this to become happy and successful. What an inspiring story to read! Your review was comprehensive and inspiring to read!

Thanks for a thoughtful, interesting review. I generally don't read memoirs because many of them are not well edited. I will consider this book due to your excellent review. Congrats on BOTD.
