This book doesn’t interest me. I am concerned that I would be triggered by the accusative aspects and I don’t really like biographies. I think I will skip this one.

It’s hard to find anything to dislike about this book. The only thing that seemed to bother me was the unusually lengthy description of the author's ancestry. I almost got bored at the beginning because it felt more like a detailed genealogy at first. I think it would have been better if he named his relatives with a concise description. That will enable the readers to delve into the book’s main point.
I don't think some authors realize how important the first pages are to capture the attention of the readers. But I'm glad you gave the book a chance because it seems like an inspiring and moving memoir.
Thank you for your great review!

Sounds like an emotionally difficult book to read. I liked that the author found within himself to forgive the people who made his childhood difficult. This gives hope to others as well. I agree, that everyone has a story and their own struggles and if we are more mindful of that, the world and daily general lives can become a more tolerable affair for a lot of people. Great job on the review !

An autobiography of the author for the first twenty years of his life. The hardships suffered for a child or a teenager always are disturbing. However, in this type of story, there are always lessons to learn. It seems like a good option.

"When Life Doesn't Turn Out the Way We Hoped It Would? Volume 1" by Tom Wick - Tom Wick has an engaging writing style, half telling the story, and half talking directly to the reader. We quickly begin to understand his perspective which puts the story in context. Thanks for the thoughtful review.

Very heavy reading just the pages I have read. With that being said, I would really like to read this book. Lots of struggles and lots to relate to for some people. I hope this book helps one with the same issues and can find healing

Definitely not my cup of tea and prime example why I don't read non-fiction on principal. I can't understand why anyone would like to dive in word of trauma and abuse, knowing all too well that it is a true life story, happened yo real live person and not some fictional bit added to spice things along. Sorry, but I skip it.

These stories of childhood struggles that affect us as adults can be very emotional. What I like about this book in particular is the element of hope that is evident in the title. Thanks for a great review.

The #BOTD title almost threw my interest off as some autobiographies only detail the negatives of their upbringing. The description from the review seems to show that this author doesn't blame how his life turns out on other people in his life. What I find the most interesting is that this is split into 3 individual books. Great highlights to gain insight into the author's intentions.

I admire people who got the courage to write their story after going through abuse. It's not something I tend to read though.

Thanks for your honest review. This sounds like an interesting autobiography. I feel for those who went through trauma and abuse in childhood, but I'm not really comfortable reading about it. I'm glad the author overcame his troubles.

A very descriptive review. To have childhood spent among people who are addicts and come out of it the way the author did is exceptionally brave and rare. People who make excuses for the way of life they have chosen should learn from these people. It's your choice in the end so stop blaming the circumstances.

This is the first memoir I have encountered to have more than one volume. The author seems to have a lot to unravel. Regardless this is a great inspirational novel.

This autobiography brings a person who witnessed the problems of addiction, passed through various kinds of abuses and traumas. I think the theme is too heavy and maybe triggering for me, so I'm passing it. However, congrats to the author on BOTD! Thanks for the informative and insightful review!

This man sounds like he had a very hard childhood. It is sad that so many children go through such terrible things at the hands of their own family. This would be an inspiring story on how he overcame is rough start in life.
