Honoring Mary Ann's recollections as a wife, mother, and friend, the writer crafts a heartfelt account of the highs and lows life dealt them. The book will be appreciated particularly by readers who have lost a loved one. Thank you for an honest review highlighting the aspects you liked and disliked clearly.

"Last Dance" by Stephen Manning is a deeply moving tribute to the author’s late wife, Mary Ann, and an exploration of what it means to be a great mother. Through a series of poignant anecdotes and reflective memories, Manning paints a vivid picture of a woman whose life was defined by love, resilience, and devotion to her family. The narrative captures the essence of motherhood, not just in the traditional sense of nurturing and caring for children, but in the broader sense of creating a loving and stable home, supporting a spouse, and facing life's challenges with grace.

The book’s strength lies in its authenticity and emotional depth. Manning’s unwavering love for Mary Ann is palpable throughout the story, and his descriptions of their life together evoke a sense of admiration and longing. His portrayal of Mary Ann as his "angel" reflects the deep bond they shared, a bond that was not only romantic but also rooted in mutual respect and partnership. This depiction of a strong, loving relationship offers readers a model of what it means to truly support and cherish a spouse, even in the face of adversity.

However, the book’s slower pace, particularly in the first half, may be a drawback for some readers. While Manning’s detailed accounts of his career and travels provide context, they sometimes detract from the core of the story—his relationship with Mary Ann and their family life. Despite this, the book’s emotional resonance and the celebration of Mary Ann’s life make it a compelling read.

"Last Dance" is a heartfelt memoir that will resonate with those who have experienced loss or who appreciate stories of enduring love. It’s a reminder that being a great mother—and a great partner—means creating a legacy of love, strength, and resilience that endures long after one’s life ends.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed review of Last Dance. It’s clear that Stephen Manning poured his heart into this book. His love for Mary Ann and their shared experiences must make this a deeply moving read. I’m especially intrigued by the blend of family life and travel adventures. It sounds like a beautiful tribute to a life well-lived, even if the pacing took a bit to pick up. This seems like a book that would resonate with anyone who has experienced deep love and loss.

This story indeed portrayed a reality experience of what it takes to stand by your conviction even amidst challenges.
Manning ever dreaming of nurturing children and marrying one who can give them instigate his ability to stand by his will. Though love for Mary Ann later made him bend to another, which showed that love have the ability to make a man change his will from the initial one believed in before.
The book is indeed so full of suspense and romance one won't want to undermine.

I'm sure this real life story will be inspirational for the future generations who wanted to cope up and thrive in their relationship. The slow pace of the book as mentioned in the review is understandable as it is true story which isn't an imagination to fast forward as we wish. Congratulations for the family for celebrating the love of a mother through this documentary.

Based solely on this review, I want to read this book. It was honest and heartfelt. It actually took me back down the road to the time I lost the person that meant the most to me, my mom. Though not the same loss, both are significant and had impacts. It is wonderful that the reviewer notes the author addresses before, during and after and doesn't focus solely on all of the good things. In my opinion, this makes the book more relatable/approachable, as not all that transpires with a loss will be positive.

A mouth watering story of love, fun, marriage , and marriage challenges. The story of Stephen and and Mary Ann makes me anxious of what I look forward to meeting in a marriage , how to conduct a marriage relationship to make it fun and how to face challenges like those of sickness and loss of partner

One of the most painful things a person can experience is the loss of a loved one, but the worst of it is knowing that the person is dying and still not being able to do anything about it. While the protagonist suffered a significant loss, I'm sure he has had good memories to keep him going. This is a fantastic recommendation.
