It's unfortunate how author's mother died after giving birth to author and now it's Henry's responsibility to take care all the kids on his own which he was simply not prepared for it mentally and how it affected everyone near him.

We could never replace our dear one's loss. It will definitely affect each and every one of them in the family emotionally and physically.what we could is to accept the fate and move on. I think this book will be an inspirational one!

My first thought about today's BOTD was that I am not sure that I would like to be at anyone's feet, even serenity's. Reading the description in review didn't improve my opinion to more positive and because of it I will have to skip this book. Congratulations anyway!

What an intriguing story! I am happy this book comes free. I would like to know more about Henry's struggles in raising five children by himself. Did he find serenity in his life after all?

One cannot help but feel sympathy for Henry trying to look after five children after his wife died. I like the way the author has presented this emotional and touching story. This seems like a good book for young couples thinking of having a family and those that already do have families. Thanks for the excellent and comprehensive review on this book.

I'm not particularly fond of memoirs, so I won't be reading this. However, I truly enjoyed the old photographs that are peppered throughout the book. Congratulations to Ms. Gwartney on her accomplishment and for achieving BOTD!

It must be therapeutic and helpful for the author to learn her mother's story through writing this book. Great job with the review.

Memoirs are not my cup of tea but the book in general seems pretty interesting. Being a single parent with one child is a challenge but having to care of five children whose future and well being depends on your choices is way more challenging than anyone can imagine. I'm sure the book will find its reader. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

It's tough to take care of one kid as a single parent, let alone five. I sympathize with Henry, at the same time I wish he had tried to take help early on. A parent's behavior highly influences a kid and shapes their future. This seems like a great book and your review is very helpful too.

Wow what an interesting book of religion, death, grief, and the interpretation of what happened to Claylands family. This is a must-read good review.

Eve poured all her heart and soul into writing this book, she did a splendid job in telling her family history with the aid of letters and diaries as well as the affection between Henry and Grace. Congrats on BOTD!

The author has a way of sharing a view through the camera lens with words on her life. This is a beautiful story of a family that grows up through chaos and turmoils. It is a tribute to strive the “thrive” the story will take you on an emotional rollercoaster.

I received At The Feet of Serenity as a Goodreads Giveaway.
The Statue of Friendship called Serenity is the basis of this book and the family history that revolves around it.
Grace and Henry Clayland are photographed in front of her and these photos surface in later years. Grace dies and leaves Henry with 5 young children. The story follows his actions and the lengths he goes to too keep the children together.
There is a lot of history of the Mormon faith and the oldest boy, Derek becomes the central character and how he unknowlingly follows in his fathers footsteps and the lengths he goes to too try to keep his new family together after two failed marriages.
Serenity's deterioration over the years is the one constant in this story.
Highly enjoyable book and very well written and informative.

This is a good review, and gave me a clear understanding of what to expect from the book. I certainly have a deep respect for Henry, as taking on parenting 5 kids alone seems would be a challenging task. The author has done well to showcase her personal story.
