Although I am a Christian, I agree that all religions have been shaped by history, culture, and interpretation. I think it is appropriate to question the authenticity and consistency of the gospels. It is proper to think critically. However, Jesus' teachings remain relevant, such as loving one's neighbor, forgiving others, and striving to be humble and compassionate.

The book is dedicated to exploring the nuances of Christianity. You wouldn't expect schisms within a seemingly united front. Gospels contradict each other. Interpretations of the Bible vary between believers. You can't help but wonder why the higher power they believe in allows such disparity.

Religious fiction is not my cup of tea but the review is well written and the book makes the reader think critically about the sources and authors of the texts and consider the potential for exaggeration or alteration of events which I find really helpful. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

While the ideas in this book may be useful to open minded Christians who would love to have a deeper understanding of their faith, I'm not sure I'd be drawn to read the book because I rarely read books focusing on theological discussions or books under religious genres. Congratulations on being the BOTD though....

I don't think I will read this book on Christian orthodoxy. However, I will spread the word to my Christian friends of it being free for BOTD.
I appreciate this detailed review, thank you for skillfully highlighting its contents!

The book critically examines the New Testament's authenticity and evolving Christian doctrines, encouraging readers to question historical religious narratives and explore the diverse interpretations within Christianity and other world religions. Congrats on being BOTD!

Interestingly, teachings about religion in general and Christianity in particular often draws serious critique from scholars and adherents. Moreso, the distinction between modern christianity and traditional christianity tends to heighten this critique. My position has always been following the teachings of Jesus and living by its precepts. Joseph Grogan's "Christian Orthodoxy: A Closer Look" is another critique of the modern christianity. Thanks for this review.

"Christian Orthodoxy: A Closer Look" by Joseph Grogann is a book that challenges every conventional knowledge we have about the Christian religion. People are most afraid of change so they barely ask any questions at all.

A set of theological discussions for open minded Christians can be found in the book "CHRISTIAN ORTHODOXY: A Closer Look" by Joseph Grogan. This book intellectually challenges the modern Christian.

It is a work of service. Because the old rules and system were suitable for that time but in modern world the least we can do is understand our religion again and restart. A holy book is not only a guide but a teacher. And everyone should adapt accordingly. I like how this questions and tries to understand things in new light.

Reading the Prologue and Onyinyechi Obi's review of Joseph Grogan's "Christian Orthodoxy: A Closer Look" has whetted my appetite. Being born into a Christian family, we were not really allowed to delve deep and ask questions that bothered us. This book seems like a perfect candidate for trying to get a better understanding of my religion.

"Christian Orthodoxy: A Closer Look" by Joseph Grogan intellectually challenges the modern Christian by boldly asking: What if our understanding of Christianity has been shaped more by history, culture, and interpretation than by the teachings of Jesus himself? "
As a christian am move by the above quote and will read this book to find find answers to the above question.

"CHRISTIAN ORTHODOXY: A Closer Look" by Joseph Grogan challenges modern Christians to reconsider how much of their faith is influenced by historical and cultural interpretations rather than the core teachings of Jesus, revealing the complexities that have obscured the simplicity of his message

I like books that delve deeply into the origins of Christianity and involve theological discussions. This book is even more interesting to me for approaching challenging conventional perceptions. It certainly broadens and deepens one's understanding of faith and religion.
