I loved the way you put together the review. Topics like addiction and abuse are not easy to discuss even though the one who is fortunate enough to not experience such things might believe otherwise. I applaud the author for opening up about it. Although I'm not a fan of audiobooks, the author's journey sounds inspiring and I love a story of resilience.

Listening to someone tell their life journey can be very interesting, especially if the narration is fluid without distractions. I would love to listen in to the audio recording of this memoir and experience the author's journey first hand.

I appreciate this review, but I believe that people may perceive arrogance differently when they tell stories about their lives. The author adopts a unique writing style in how the book title is. Thank you for the review.

Your critique of Dragons and Butterflies was both thoughtful and in-depth, and I truly appreciate the depth of your thinking in this matter. You've probably captured what should be the essence of some Johnnie Calloway's memoir, demonstrating how emotionally authentic and transformative it could be. The way you described his narrative approach - raw, honest, and geared toward inspiration - makes one listen to the audiobook as if it were more personal and gripping.

What I found most compelling was your attention to the value of hearing the author weave his own narrative: that there are very few things that connect someone with another's emotion more than perhaps knowing how it was spoken rather than read. Refreshing words: This memoir does not fall prey to self-pity or arrogance, but speaks to the hardship and triumph of Calloway in fact but with impact. Such a balance is seldom found in memoirs, and just makes me the more curious to hear firsthand his journey.

I liked your mentioning of A Course in Miracles and the Twelve Step Program as contributors to his healed condition. Not only would this prove quite beneficial to a reader (or listener) who might have been in healing, but it also does indicate the kind of approaches one might think apply to such struggles among family and friends. And, of course, I liked your observation on Calloway's high school English teacher. It's nice to see how some teacher or mentor can create such an imprint on someone's life even many years later.

Thank you for your candid criticism regarding the variable quality. I think it has made it worthwhile to learn that such an experience wasn't perfect but was still significant enough to merit such glowing applause from you.

More than that, this review, to me, also sounds convincing enough for me to go ahead and listen to this audiobook, especially if you are one of those people attracted to personal stories of overcoming hardships, addiction, and growth. Sounds pretty inspiring and relatable, right?
