This book is a memory that tells the story of the author's life and success. She never had the victim mentality or the restrictive mentality that some people are classified as a minority. She is the third of nine children. Her father was a forensic investigator and her mother was a store owner. In this memoir, Monica details how her childhood and relationship with her family helped shape who she is now. She detailed how the distinctive personalities of her siblings taught her life lessons that she still applies. As I progress further into the book, I am taking along on the author's journey as she encounters new people and new mindsets and makes her own choices.

I love reading a book that will help me grow and become a better version of myself. And this book sounds like one. To be very honest, the title itself says it all. It's enough for me to grab this book. I would love to read this book.

Those who are successful today, might have been victims of circumstances at one point in life. Facing challenges head-on is the only gateway to success. The book is intriguing.

Nice review! The book sounds interesting for those looking to read a self-help book and improve their lives. I, myself, am a little worn out from all the self-help books, so I won't be ready another one.

The question: why would anyone need to bee encouraged to rely on government assistance?, resonated so much with me. I like the mentality of facing life's challenges, working hard, standing up for yourself.

Definitely not my cup of tea, because it is quite hard for me to read and understand racism, since I myself am not prone to it. I prefer to accept people as they are and see no sense to blame for things they have no control over. Race, parents and country of birth main among them.
