Since our population in the USA is getting increasingly older, this book is definitely applicable to many in our society. Although old age and senility don't always go hand in hand, it is a reality many will face through aging family members. I'm glad the book lists some positive aspects of being elderly in addition to the difficulties that some older folks face. Thanks for your review!

I don't read much non-fiction. My reading time is mostly a way to take a moment to mentally escape from reality. This book will be an exception. Over the last couple of years I have slowly begun to find myself as the main caregiver for my dad who has been diagnosed with early onset dementia. Most days are ok, but lately I have begun to notice small, and some not so small, changes. I just ordered this book from Amazon. Thank you for your informative review. Hopefully, I will find something that will help make this time in my dad's life a little better for him and for our family. ❣🐢

I'm so happy my review was helpful, and I hope the book helps too. Rereading this took me back to the time it was written - my situation is so much better now! I was dealing with not dementia but a mental illness in a loved one. I know what you mean about reading fiction to escape - that has helped me over the years, not least the last three, too - but I remember how helpful it was to read every book I could lay my hands on about my loved one's condition!

Wishing you much luck going forward!

My dad is turning 93 in May. I am lucky that I have a reliable caregiver to help me care for him. There are challenges, but there are joys too.

I believe this is a book I need to read. Thank you for your insightful and moving review.
