The environment of this main character, Larry Landgraf, sounds familiar (I'm from Texas), but different enough for me to be a little amazed by his background. I look forward to reading this book in the future!

Congratulations to the author and reviewer for providing such a vivid image of life in the swamp and what to expect in the book. My first reaction was surprise that Texas actually has a swamp as I also live in Texas, but thankfully without alligators and hurricanes in the Texas Hill Country. The description of the insects was so vivid I almost started itching. The tale of the ancient tractor really appealed to me and I could feel the author’s attachment to it. I particularly enjoyed the author’s conversational style which is reminiscent of tales told around the campfire or more likely what you hear when old timers gather in a small town diner for coffee and stories. I really didn’t anticipate liking this book but the sample changed my mind. Now I plan to read it and then pass it on to several family members so they can also enjoy it. Incidentally, the book’s cover is beautifully done and sure to attract attention.

We have our share of violent typhoons in the Philippines, so I can relate to Larry's experiences of strong winds and flooding. But the constant danger of stepping on venomous snakes will make me a nervous wreck, not to mention the possibility of encountering killer bees and hungry alligators. I can read this book, but I doubt I can live in the swamp. Thanks, but no thanks!

This is certainly an interesting premise for a book, and sounds like an intriguing read. Great review!

I think you are a brave soul for reading this one with snakes, bugs and spiders right within the first few pages. This isn’t really my type of reading material, but it sounds like the author did a great job putting this one together regarding his life as a swamp dweller. Very good review with enough details to help me decide whether or not to give this one a try.

This is a book that I can relate to. I don't live in a swamp, but we do have our share of sever flooding, and poison ivy.

Swamp living is probably a foreign and unique experience to many, including me. This ounds like it could be very educational and entertaining. I'm glad this one is well-written. I personally, don't have an interest in reading it at this time. Thanks for an awesome review.

This book is a trip into the muddy, dangerous, but yet beautiful swamp. The author details his life in experiences over his time spent in the swamp. He shares his love for his machine and the women who have shared his swamp with him. I found this book to be informative, entertaining, and a glimpse into a person's life living in a swamp.

I've never considered living in a swamp, but this sounds like a great glimpse into what life would be like if I did. Thanks for your review!
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

The short stories in this book have an interesting element of the diversity of life, and they depict different aspects of life.

I have to say I have never lived in a swamp, but this book makes it sound intriguing. I enjoy reading about places I have never lived at or travelled to. Thanks for a wonderful review!

Although the sample didn't particularly interest me, I always enjoy hearing stories about those who live a way different life than me. I have never had to worry about serious flooding or hurricanes (just digging myself out of mass amounts of snow) so the author did shed some light on what that would be like. I did enjoy the pictures that were provided, especially that 8-foot alligator he found! Great review!

I will add this book to my list. It sounds interesting to appreciate another subculture within our world, and I appreciate short-story collections because the change of topic keeps me engaged and interested and really shows the author's wide range of storytelling abilities. Thanks for the review!
