Why make a family? Why have children? Most parents don't have answers for these questions. So children from such parents end up being bad parents and the cycle continues. Congrats to the author. So courageous.

I'll admit that some people's lives is just miserable, you can see someone struggle their entire life all to find grounding in life, and its like they've been cursed or something. People are going through a lot, they don't voice it out that much. I hope this memoir will remind them that they are not alone, and not to give up. Great review.

Nice review. This sounds like a moving memoir and one that may help individuals that are battling an addiction or just trying to outrun their horrible upbringing to find a place of calm. However, it seems too full of sorrow and pain for me to get the full depth of the book.

It just sounds like an honest memoir about the author's miseries and his struggle with addiction and depression.

I love the honesty that the author has about his life; it isn't that "peaches and cream" memoir book that one must be thinking of. It is so sad that religion has had such a negative effect on the author, but this does not surprise me a lot; in fact, I avoid church as much as possible because of how terribly judgemental the people can be. Congrats to the author on BOTD! :)

It must have been quite painful to relive those memories with such honesty. I appreciate the author's use of humour to help the reader deal with the difficulties expressed in the memoir. Thanks for a great review.

From having read the sample I can realize what a rough life he went through especially at the beginning. It would be a tough book to read. I agree with the reviewer that we hope we do what's best for our own kids, but since we are human, we all make mistakes. We only hope that it doesn't scar them for life. I also agree the author was very brave, and hopefully it was therapeutic, to put this into words for all of us to read. Thank you for the review.

At first glance, I thought it was just a funny memoir, but then I saw that it was not for the faint of heart... Well, this is going to be an interesting one.

I really commend the author for sharing his story and exploring everything, even the deep and darkest parts of himself. It must have been very hard to do that. I like that he can incorporate humor otherwise as it does lighten up a darker read. Great review!

Thank you for this review. Wow. This sounds like such a hard and challenging life. I’m impressed the author can use humor when writing about his life. I don’t generally read memoirs, but this seems like something that deserves to be read. It’s sad to see what parenting can do to a person. I will definitely be sampling this book.

This book sounds like a heavy and emotional one. I personally wouldn't go for such a book. But on the other side, you can also be inspired from the story. Thanks for the great review!

To go through life facing such challenges and extreme hardships yet surviving and retaining a sense of humor in it all is truly fascinating. I love that the author has taken the great pains of revisiting those harrowing incidents through this emotional memoir without hiding the depth of his life from the readers. In that sense it feels raw and yet inspirational. Great review!

This book reflects what kind of abise most children go through behind the closed doors and behind the pictures of a perfect family. The demons would grow with their age. It takes strong will to rid themselves of those memories and move forward. I am shocked to know that a psychiatrist, who was supposed to help the little boy added to his misery. I appreciate the author for dealing with his demons and writing this memoir. It takes a lot of courage. I would like to read this book. Congratulations to the author on BOTD!

This book sounds like a bittersweet read. Attempting to hold back the overwhelming emotions while the author offers moments of humor for the sake of not becoming too overbearing in reading the suffering he has gone through. It sounds like a victory in Christ found through trials for sure. However, could it be any other way for those who seek after God? Thank you for the book recommendation. Great review!
