A parents worse nightmare when they find out a serious medical condition is affecting their child. It is much worse when it is a completely new diagnosis. Thank you for your review. I can feel the anxiety and fear that turns into resilience to overcome the hurdle to get the cure for Lou. I hope that from learning about Mark and Mary Ellen Unger's story would inspire other families going through the same or similar ordeal to not lose hope.

The power to uplift, motivate and encourage people with similar consequences is indeed a notion created to hearten. There shall always be changes in the way of writing as this shouldn't just be a journal instead a narration. The child being the survivor is the most difficult situation any parent could face. The challenges they meet everyday for several days is unthinkable.

Your thorough exploration of Lou's journey from diagnosis to triumph provides valuable insight into the challenges faced by families dealing with childhood cancer.

I appreciate your reflection on Mark's method of journaling and advocacy for his son, which undoubtedly resonates with many parents navigating similar situations. The inclusion of photographs documenting Lou's progress adds a personal touch to the narrative, allowing readers to connect with his story on a deeper level.

Your observation about the technical details and medical procedures depicted in the book highlights its authenticity and attention to detail. While the grammatical errors and frequent descriptions of medications may detract from the reading experience, it's clear that Lou's story of resilience and the Unger family's advocacy is truly inspiring.

Overall, your review provides valuable insights into the strengths and areas for improvement of "First Survivor." Thank you for sharing your perspective and helping readers understand the impact of this remarkable journey.

I really got touched by reading the review and definitely want to read it to know about the unbeatable journey of Louis fighting against a rare disease called Legg-Calvé-Perthes. As it is Father's journal, it is going to be a very emotional read. It takes so much courage to fight for your kid and to pen down all the suffering and experiences. Thank you for the wonderful review. Congratulations on BOTD!

This is a thorough and informative review of First Survivor. In spite of the grammatical errors and lists of medications, this book still has a lot to offer. The journey that this family had to take to acquire the best treatment possible for their son is important to read. It is a book on resourcefulness and thinking outside of the box to save a child. :techie-studyinggray:

A well-written review, thank you. I read and reviewed this book a few months ago: Mary-Ellen and Mark Unger's story has remained with me. It is the story of how a family deals with their beloved son's cancer diagnosis. it is a story of bravery, courage and the determination to ensure that other children benefit from one man's dedication and commitment to his son's recovery. Mary-Ellen and Mark Unger's story is a story of triumph over the unimaginable and I commend them both for their commitment and dedication to their son's recovery whilst continuing to care for their youngest son's needs.

This is a very well-written review, thanks for sharing. I also found myself a bit lost in between the narrative when it showed the list of medicines and dosages. The grammatical errors, however, did not distract me enough from this heartwarming reading experience of perseverance and hope despite the odds. I highly recommend those who have not read this book to check it out.

This is and encouraging and sad story, kudos to the ungers for their courage towards fighting cancer, they believed.
As a medical student at one point I thought this was the end of the road, It was difficult to believe the tides would change when Louis was unfairly handed a lethal diagnosis one that could result to death.First Survivor” is not a medical book, and it’s not a book that promises to give you the ultimate cancer cure or survival recipe.
I must say it's a must read for all parents and people struggling with issues like this
