"First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough sounds like an incredibly moving journey of resilience and hope. Lou's story, from a devastating diagnosis to becoming the First Survivor, is truly inspiring. A heartbreaking story about a couple’s ordeal dealing with their son's childhood cancer, which has a nearly zero percent survival rate. Mark’s journal of questions and progress help in choosing the best treatment plan, and the photographs of recovery boost the morale of the readers too. A beautiful book for non-fiction readers. I enjoyed reading your review.

Thank you for the review , its well structured and easy to ready through. I agree with the reviewer that the story is motivational and inspiring. However I slightly disagree with why she gave a rating of 3 of 4 because the Author illustrated medical measurements in his writing. If you have experienced sickness I believe medicine measurements play a very important part and that maybe a reason why this story ended with a cancer survivor because everything have to be done in detail and with accuracy. Great review !

“First Survivor” by Mark Unger is a heartwarming account of a family’s battle against their son’s rare pediatric cancer. This book isn’t a medical textbook or a guide, but a captivating narrative that offers an intimate look at a remarkable tale of bravery, hope, and resilience.

The book chronicles the family’s relentless pursuit for a cure that not only saved their son from a “zero chance of survival” prognosis but also paved the way for many others battling the same form of cancer.

The narrative of the family’s struggle to save their son is profoundly moving. The medical insights presented in the book, along with the glossary, underscore the extensive research undertaken to ensure factual accuracy.

Thank you for an informative review.
Lou's story is a profoundly dark battle that ultimately was victorious. Fortunately, his parents were strong, confident, and determined despite the dark circumstances. Most people are intimidated by medical professionals, and it seems that Mark and Mary Ellen's difference in approach is what increased the odds in Lou's favor.
I have witnessed the difficulties faced by adults in their battles against a variety of illnesses; incredibly, this 3-year-old was able to conquer this rare, life-threatening disease!
Congratulations to the author for sharing this soulful journey with the world! This no doubt leaves the world hopeful, especially in times of uncertainty!

An inspirational real life cancer memoir of a family's journey and the impossible miracle that led to their son's becoming a childhood cancer survivor. This is a thriller about a family’s battle to save their toddler son from a “zero chance of survival” diagnosis. With the world’s best doctors and the advocacy of his parents, Louis Unger would fight a 5-year battle for his young life. His grit and incredible attitude led to a breakthrough that would change how cancer is treated today. This is not a medical journal or a how-to guide. It is a true page-turner that gives you a front row seat to a miraculous story of courage, inspiration and determination. All proceeds from this book will go to the Carrot Seed Foundation where they will be used to fund Neuroblastoma clinical trials and support the children and families who are stricken by this disease.
