Winning a lost cause case is very impossible. Mark's struggle and hard work and efforts to keep his son, Lou, alive is admirable. Furthermore I liked how this book is written by Lou' father.

Latest Review: First Survivor by Mark Unger

Really good review! Reading this review has already made me emotional, and I've only read the sample so far. I think it's remarkably amazing that Louis was about to go through all the pain he did only at three years old, which makes him much braver than most people. Definitely braver than me (I hate it when doctors poke around). The quote you found was also wonderful-
One of Mark’s quotes that motivated me was: “There are no dead ends, only new paths.”
and beautiful too.

“First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough” by Mark Unger is a story about Louis, a child cancer patient, that survived a diagnosis of “zero chance of survival” to becoming the First Survivor. Imagine the horrors of being a parent of a child diagnosed with incurable cancer and what you would do to save your child. This is a true story about Louis who underwent seven years of testing, scans and treatments for his rare cancer disease. Louis became the first patient to receive a new protocol treatment that saved his life. This is an amazing story that showed parents who would not give up on their son and refused to be intimidated by doctor titles. His parents never gave up and they authorized new treatments that had not been used before to ultimately save their son. A very good book and review.

Mark Unger's detailed account of his interactions with doctors and hospitals sheds light on the bureaucratic obstacles and rigid protocols that can sometimes hinder innovative approaches to treatment.

As a parent, watching your kid suffering from cancer is the hardest thing. "First Survivor offers" a beacon of hope, showing relentless love and advocacy can lead to miraculous breakthroughs.
Life is a play where we are the actors and the audience, We laugh and cry, love and hate, create and destroy,
We seek to know ourselves and others, to belong and to be free, We accept what we can and change what we must.

Even though Louis's cancer treatments were extremely painful, individuals couldn't have been able to handle them, but he handled his suffering with such grace. "First Survivor" made me consider the abrupt changes a family must go through when a terrible disease shows up on their doorstep. However, families are strong and capable of putting up a valiant struggle to protect their loved ones.

Wow, it is exactly what I felt reading the sample of this book.

Moreover, I felt appropriation to those parents, that in their hardest times, they documented everything and published this important book that can be a guide to each person that suffers from cancer and their family members.

This book gives hope, that even from a dead-end, there is what to do. All you have to do is change the path you are in. Thank you for your review.
