I think reading this story to my family will teach them to be grateful for what they have in life and will be highly engaging and inspirational. Even though reading about a sensitive topic like pediatric cancer can be challenging, I recognize how important it is for his parents to share their experience.

I found the review to be very helpful. I didn't read the whole book, because I just read the sample. It was nice to hear that the story was perhaps not told well enough. However, what I did see in the sample was some nice pictures, and what seems to be the mom's journal entries. I was impressed that the child was able to endure such a sharp needle, and how helpful the mother was able to get his mind off it. The children must really deserve a lot of credit for his own survival. He was very brave, and that was the reason as to why he managed to get a new treatment that was probably begging for a patient.

Thank you for sharing your insightful review of "First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough" by Mark Unger. It's heartwarming to hear how the book captures the journey of Louis's healing and triumph over a devastating diagnosis. The inclusion of photographs depicting Louis's progress and growth adds a personal touch that resonates with readers. Your appreciation for Mark's dedication in keeping a journal to document his son's treatments and his relentless search for the best medical path is commendable. It's inspiring to see how Mark and Mary Ellen advocated for their son's health, challenging the established protocols and ultimately leading to a breakthrough that saved his life. Your comments about the book's grammatical errors and technical descriptions of medications and dosages provide valuable feedback for potential readers. Overall, it seems like "First Survivor" is a story of hope, perseverance, and advocacy that can inspire and provide comfort to parents facing similar challenges.

First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough by Mark Unger describes the real-life battle of the Unger family to save their younger son, Louis, from a "zero chance of survival" diagnosis. Their battle to fight against a rare cancer becomes the inspiration for other families who are suffering from the same situation all over the world. Thanks for the review.

"First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough" by Mark Unger shares the true-life story of a cancer survivor, a three-year-old boy named Louis. His parents give detailed accounts of how they went from zero survival to beating cancer. The book spreads hope to those who might be in similar situations. I like stories like this because they give you hope not just about cancer but whatever you might be going through that seems too much to bear.

I appreciate that the parents kept a record of all they encountered during the period and shared it with others to help them learn and make more informed decisions. I salute the courage of Louis as he fought his way through this challenging phase of life and came out victorious. Thank you for such a great review, and congratulations to the author on BOTD.

The proceeds from the book are donated to the Carrot Seed Foundation, founded by Mary Ellen and Mark Unger, to fund Neuroblastoma clinical trials and support the children and families who are struck by this disease. I encourage everyone, myself included, to get a copy of this book to help give hope and spread love, especially to cancer patients.

Throughout the novel, the name of Louis as a role model becomes evident. In his early years, he has shown great bravery and depression resistance in the disease fight. It is his strong will that leads the way to hope for his people and for the witnesses of his tale.

This one is interesting, heart-touching, and inspiring. Watching a child suffer through a serious illness is quite painful, especially for the parents. I need to know how Lou coped, and how he recovered.

The review provided insightful information. I'm fascinated by the father's journal detailing his son's illness. It must have taken immense courage and determination to chronicle such a challenging journey. I'm eager to delve into the book to learn more about Louis's path to healing.

Reading this review made me cry. And since Lou was the one in the center of the storm, I congratulate him on everything. He remained resilient despite numerous proddings and therapies. He is a powerful individual. Reading is something I would really enjoy.
