Such an encouraging book for cancer patients or those who's loved ones have cancer. Readers get a glimpse of what patients go through and understand their struggles.

A book about the parents documenting the progression of their son having cancer and dealing with endless hospital visits and treatment. I like how the parents weren't intimidated by the doctors' titles and white coats when fighting for their child's new treatment. Parents with hospitalised children will find comfort and informations needed in this book. I dont know have a child but a book like this will come in handy should anything happen to my family.

This is a real life thriller about a family's battle to save their son from a “zero chance of survival” diagnosis. With the world's best doctors and the advocacy of his parents, Louis Unger would fight the battle for his young life.

"First Survivor" is much more than a medical account. It's the revelation of the magic of love, hope, and the endless energy of a kid. The story of Louis's bravery in the fight for life takes your breath away. It is a symbol of encouragement for families who are similarly going through terrible childhood cancer.

This is an extremely heavy book to read, because it follows the story of parents who have to deal with the disease of their son and try to be strong for him. It sounds very inspiring for parents going through the same thing, I really like that the author also kept a journal, thanks for pointing that out in your review!

Looks like an inspiring novel that can be a great help to the readers who are going through a similar situation to navigate through life. As a parent who had to endure their newborn facing quite a similar life endangering disease and having lost the baby, this story resonates with me. So, I don't think I'll be able to read this book immediately for I have to wait till my own wounds have healed. But I'm sure I'll be able to and I would like to read this book at a later date.

First Survivor by Mark Unger shares the real-life story of a 3-year-old boy, Louis, who was diagnosed with cancer with zero chance of survival. His parents' fight to get Lou the best medical treatment and Lou's brave attitude to this deadly disease, even as a little child, was truly remarkable and inspiring. I already bought this book and will read it soon. Congratulations on the BOTD!

I cannot imagine how the parents must have been devastated when Louis was diagnosed with the rare disease condition (Legg Calve Perthes).
