I didn't grow up on the farm but I am often fascinated about stories like this one. I also share Amanda's pain when her dreams and aspirations were crushed by her father's cruelty. Parents should stand as role models and a ladder for the success of their children, not the other way round. Your review makes this book mouth-watering and more appealing to read.

I just realized that the author's surname is Farmer. What a coincidence! Or a clever move?

Ages ago, people picked their surnames, and some chose their jobs. Ancient advertising!

I thought about that too! There is no indication that this is not her given name. I could understand if she did write under a pen name considering some of the things that are revealed. Thanks for commenting.
