I didn't totally understand the story completely by reading the review. The story seems complicated but at least I understood Grace and Henry made vows and we're married and that Grace died after giving birth to the author. Congrats BOTD

A memoir that describes a family history. The author recounts the experience of her family. A metaphorical association with the statue Serenity in Washington D.C is presented. Some interesting topics are explored, such as the influence of parents' choices in the lives of their children and the foundational knowledge of the Mormon church.

A story that spins a tale of the origin of specific kinship ties sounds interesting. Thanks for the review.

Interesting plot. I'd love to check this book out because I'd love to learn more about the clayland family. Great review.

I love memoirs and the book seems to touch extensively on family too. I can sympathize with Henry's predicament and school of thought. Congratulations on the BOTD.

One of the most difficult things to go through is losing one's partner as sometimes it takes a whole lot to get through it. I think Henry showed great strength in taking care of the five kids after the death of his wife. In the end, love conquers all. Good review.

I don't enjoy reading memoirs of this kind. However, I'm sure many other readers will appreciate this book.

I think Henry did a good job in raising all 5 kids even after losing his wife, losing your partner is one of the most devastating thing that could happen to any one. But with strength and love I think Henry was able to pull it off. Good review.

The book sounds like a great read. The story of Henry and his bereavement leaving him with a sole responsibility of raising his kids and his distraught to the point of psychological dysfunction is sad to read through. However, I'm not a fan of this genre. Otherwise, congrats on the BOTD!

It seems like a heartwarming and a bittersweet narration. The review also carries a sincere tenderness toward the work. It especially drew my attention that all the family members, not only the father, are affected in different ways. It’d be curious to observe these differences which would shed light on the role of subjectivity in common sufferings of a family. Thank you for the review!
