"Every 9 Minutes" by Christina Vitagliano is the author's memoir in which the author remembers frequent moving, poverty, and sexual abuse. The author thoroughly explained how this abuse affected her psyche and her life choices.

In this memoir, the author tells her story, which is marked by sexual abuse by her stepfather. I find it appropriate that the point of view of the narrative changes as Christina matures. I think this helps the reader to better grasp and understand the perspective that is intended to be conveyed.

I'm not a big reader of memoirs, particularly ones centred around childhood traumas and abuse. However, I appreciate that stories need to be told and there does need to be an awareness of the impact of individuals' stories. I commend the author for putting her story out there.

"Every 9 Minutes: A Memoir" by Christina Vitagliano seems to offer a powerful, raw, and deeply personal account of surviving childhood abuse. Vitagliano’s ability to share her journey with such vulnerability likely creates an important space for readers who may have experienced similar traumas or know someone who has. The unique narrative style, where the tone evolves as the author matures, seems like a compelling technique to mirror her personal growth. Thank you for your review!

I feel a bit of connection with Christina as someone who had a childhood experience with abuse, poverty and insecurities. The trauma, the heartbreak, and the struggle to heal and live is usually a great burden. This review is really touching.

Great review! The book pulled me in right away. This is an important subject to read and learn from. I don't understand why it is usually the stepfather and why the mother never believes that he would do such a thing!

I find this book very interesting because what is mentioned in it, truly happens nation wild nowadays. Very well said children lack vocabulary to convey what happened and when they grow up maturing realize that this thing actually is horrible.

Today's BOTD is a memoir that details the author's upbringing and long-held trauma from ongoing sexual abuse by an adult who was supposed to love and protect her from evil in the world. Interested readers will not only learn the lasting harm that comes from abuse, but what to look for in those who may be experiencing the same. Thanks for your helpful review. :-)
