This book seems to be a refreshing and unfiltered take on the infamous Vietnam war. It's interesting and at the same time appealing to see racial discrimination in war zones. I n not too keen on historical non fiction but wouldn't mind checking this book out due to its short length. Congrats on BOTD.

It would be nice to learn more about this piece of history from a fresh perspective. I enjoy historical nonfiction and will probably love this. Thank you for the great review.

A nice review indeed. It's not everyday you get to read a review of a non-fiction war book. Would be anticipating to get this book. Congratulations on BOTD.

This review has piqued my interest. It's not everyday I read about war tales told by black soldiers without so much gore. I will definitely add it to my tbr list.

The plot appears engaging, but I believe it will resonate with people who prefer war stories. I'm afraid I'll have to pass on reading this book since the subject matter isn't one of my preferences. Congrats for winning #BOTD.

Though this isn't my kind of book, I love that the author has broken it down into short stand-alone chapters.

I appreciate that the author provided a different perspective of the Vietnam War than is usually the case, choosing to focus on the social history rather than the body count. It is sure to be an enlightening read. Great review.

I also enjoyed the author’s recollection of how the Vietnamese reacted to black Americans and how this differed from their view of white people. Unlike most Vietnam War stories, the Vietnamese in this story are portrayed as real, rounded individuals. The fact that the author took the trouble to learn the Vietnamese language undoubtedly helped him get closer to the locals than most serving soldiers.
This is fascinating and, as in most stories, we almost always only hear the side of the dominant party, in this case, white people. So a testimony from an African-American veteran for sure must provide a unique insight.
Thank you for your review.

"My "Enemy" in Vietnam" by Billy Springer. A frightening story, talks about the war in Vietnam. The author narrates most of the things that happened even in the U.S military. War is something most people don't want to face in life. Congrats on BOTD.

This book does sound like a good read although I don't think it's a good fit for me.

This book is a unique one. Being a black serviceman and showing the Vietnamese as real people gives this book more points than the other Vietnam War stories.

Thanks for the brilliant review!

I'm not a fan of historical novels, especially when it talks about wars and racism. Given the current scenario, I'm even less inclined to giving it a try. However, it seems like a great book, so I hope people who like the genre end up enjoying it. Thank you for the wonderful review!

While this real account of a Vietnam veteran seems to be interesting, I am not a fan of memoirs, so I will skip. Also, war is not a great reading subject right now.

I haven’t read a book about a black soldier at war before. This is a very interesting story that I do not want to miss reading. Racism has been talked about, and should continue to be talked about, as long as it still exists in our societies.
