Its My Party is a fascinating read. It seemed a slow start for me, but once I got into it I loved it. Especially liked the passage about her school years living away from home, even if I also found it sad to read how Jeannette Watson preferred school to home life. In spite of a troubled childhood and her continued struggles with depression I enjoyed reading how she also grew as a person.
An interesting insight into a life style I have never experienced but described beautifully by Jeannette Watson.

Depression can be a lifelong struggle and it´s important to talk about it. It, obviously, knows no boundaries but if we get rid of the stigma and dive into empathizing and helping people out we can better ourselves, our family and our society.
I´m glad this book discusses this and I´m enthusiastic about the author´s style.
Thank you for a very insightful review.

Thank you for the elucidating review. It's really remarkable that the author was able to transcend her depression by discerning the problem and sharing it in her well-penned memoir.

Great review. This book sounds like a good fit for people who enjoy a good memoir. Also depression affects so many people and yet so many people have misconceptions about this mental illness. I like that this book sheds light not only in the disease but also the healing process. Thanks for sharing.

It's My Party is a memoir that depicts a theme of depression. The author seems to have done a good job with this one; however, I do hope the book doesn't have a tragic ending.

A memoir that involves a story which helps the reader understand depression from a different perspective. It also acts as a guide on the path to healing. Hope the readers who love confessional stories will enjoy it to the maximum.

Wow... The review was really specific about what the book "it's my party " speaks about...Like it portrayed how deep the writer elaborated the feelings of depression in the book both from Jeanette and her father. It's a wanna read book for me because it will give a better view of how to know and deal with people with depression(being what as caused the death of many) ...Like it was well elaborated that inspite of the wealth and fame the family had, they weren't still happy, especially Jeanette... It's definitely a book I want to add to my book shelf

I agree with your view of the predominant subject of the book. Depression radiates with all people because all people expeirence depression to some degree. Living with extreme depression is very hard, not just for the person who has the depression but for the people who are part of those peoples lives are affected as well. I also agree with you that this is well suited for adults and young adults as well. Great review for a great book :-)

A lovely book to read. I love the fact that it points out some hidden truth about depression in today's world where people are suffering from depression without knowing it.
