I can recognize the authors struggle being from a big family, I am the oldest in mine. Her journey is one I can relate to, which is interesting coming from different continents let alone backgrounds. I recognize hee resilience and the message of her book, at least what I took away is that anyone can do anything if they work hard and make the right choices. I disagree with that you can make all the right choices and still end up in the gutter but her story of emotional prosperity and mindful integrity is one that makes a compelling read.

It is a well-written review. This speaks volume of Monica's determination to overcome life hindrances and is the journey of growth, inspiration and resilience. Her story is one of diversity and nuance far too rich to distill into mere hardship. She shows her compassionate and selfless nature by telling the story of when she helped Independence out. If you have an interest in self-help, personal development or just being anything outside the norm, this memoir is going to be particularly interesting because it's not only about overcoming things but also questioning what society thinks of as correct and doing right by your dreams.

The adventurous spirit of the author Monica resonated so well with me. I doubt I'd be as bold as to leave my home country without the knowledge of my family but I admire her courage.

Monica's decision to leave home at 17 was incredibly courageous. I'd love to hear more about how she managed to survive and thrive in Poland.

Definitely not my cup of tea, because it is quite hard for me to read and understand racism, since I myself am not prone to it. I prefer to accept people as they are and see no sense to blame for things they have no control over. Race, parents and country of birth main among them.
