This seems like a captivating memoir, nonetheless, the subject matter is not one I am keen on at the moment. I will add it to my shelf for future reference.

A well written autobiography following the leadership life of a major general, Craig Whelden, who has spent most of his adult life in the various branches of the military, sounds like a great book. I like it that the book teaches us about taking risks, dealing with crises, empowering others, leaving a legacy, and many more. This is a perfect match of my taste.

I haven't read a lot of biographies or memoirs lately, so maybe it's time! Your wonderful review makes this book seem like a good one, even if I'm not really in any leadership roles anymore now that I've retired. The military is always of interest to me. Thanks!

Thanks for an excellent review! I love books like this. I am glad the author added stories like the 9/11 attack. As difficult as it was to watch that on TV, I cannot imagine what it must have been like to be in a hotel, right across the street from the Pentagon when the plane hit! With as many military years of service the author has, his story must be fascinating!

The author’s way with storytelling and keeping this book free of corporate lingo sound appealing to me. I prefer to read books that share lessons in an engaging manner with the author’s personality shining through. Thanks for the helpful review!

From a sampling, this was an interesting autobiographical work by Major General Whelden. It might be worth a second look, especially for those interested in autobiographies. Well done.

I don't normally pick on leadership books to read. I am amazed that the author is a great storyteller and can tell the events of 9/11 in an exciting manner. Glimpses into an army would be emotional for me. Thanks for the review!

This review did a good job of getting to the point. I could really relate to the problem of too many characters to get to know. Sometimes the reader gets lost in the crowd.

Leadership is missing from so many aspects of our society. I also agree with the author's opening remarks that leaders are both born that way and also trained/developed. I am looking forward to reading this book, especially the parts about 9/11.

The book sounds interesting and informative. It dwells on various issues that are important for every person who wants to become a good leader. I particularly liked the topics of the importance of trust, delivering under pressure and breaking down cultural barriers. It will be interesting to read about them. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!
