Amazing review! This book is so powerful and compelling, it makes me want to start reading it immediately. I love reading stories about women who develop and push themselves into being the best that they can be. I will definitely give this one a try.

This sounds like a perfect book to read on International Women's Day! It is wonderful to see a book about a woman who discusses her personal relationships as a priority but also is driven in the career field. Congrats on the book of the day. Great review.

Thanks for the review, but I really dislike autobiographies and memoirs, and I'm definitely not interested in reading "stories of survival and triumph", so I'll pass at this time.

I enjoyed reading your review. At every turn I thought, "I have to read this book." A really interesting memoir about trauma and its effects on this life. Thanks for the intro to this book.

Wow! Despite all her troubles Lina was able "to bounce back and find solutions to each of her problems and barely looking back". That's girl power. Though I'm sensitive to all forms of abuse, may it be sexual or alcohol, I might give the book a try. I hope I won't be disappointed. Your review is precise and intriguing. Good job.

Oh, what the author had to go through during her horrific childhood is unimaginable! My heart breaks for the sexual abuse she had to endure, but to rise above that (and in such a spectacular way), truly exceeds all expectations. Congrats on BOTD and congrats to the reviewer for this brilliant appraisal.

The authors near-death experience where she was told it was not her time to die and many people would depended on her probably gave her the strength to overcome her obstacles. Writing this book must have been therapeutic for her. Thank you for the review.

The Sugar Queen by Lina Kennedy - I enjoyed the sample and plan on reading the book. Thanks for the review. It was thorough and informative. The sexual abuse is oppressive and of course the anger stews inside.

What an amazing person she was to rise above her childhood and become the success that she is. I particularly like that she has a son with whom she has a wonderful relationship. I look forward to reading this memoir. Thanks for your wonderful review!
