A wonderful memoir not for everyone but perfect for some. It progresses in chronological order. The author penned her most wonderful, traumatic and life-changing moments in a small vignettes.

Memoirs are not something I will normally read. However, in the review, the author narrated experiences from childhood to adulthood and also included imagined stories about her ancestors. There are stories readers can relate to in the book.

Thank you for bringing this book to life in your review, I found it helpful and enjoyable to read. Congratulations on BOTD. I like the idea that the author uses real and imagined events, maybe she retreated into an imaginary world children sometimes seek refuge in during traumatic times.

I found this very interesting:
She also includes stories about her ancestors who immigrated to the United States. Her detailed descriptions of people and places convey her experiences beautifully.
How wonderful to include her heritage.

It saddens me to know the author endured a difficult relationship with her parents. I hope writing the book was therapeutic to her.

There is one thing I like about memoirs, it is the honesty the authors do share in their writings. And this book is not different from them. Great work by the author.

The ability to convey relatable stories with realistic feelings is admirable in a memoir. The criticism from her mother sounds similar to what I have felt in the past, and I am interested to see how she evolved as a person despite disparaging remarks. Good review.

I love memoirs, they inevitably narrate the remarkable parts of people's lives, that is what makes them unique and captivating. This book doesn't seem to be an exception, the author's and her ancestors' lives are interesting. In the review it is mentioned that there is a mix between real and imaginary events, I wonder how much fiction was included in the book. I guess I will just have to read it and find out.

From the review, the stories revolve around the relationship of the main character and her parents, the struggle she went through especially after her father remarried. It shows how people face different situations in different times of their lives, from good memories to worst ones.

This is the first time I've read a review about a kind of Autobiography, because it's not the kind of book I like to read. But I really liked that the author describes the events in a way that you can somehow live it. I like to see characters describe exactly how they felt during everything that was happening.

While it seems the author did a great job telling the story of her life and her family's move to the US, I'll have to pass on this book because I don't read non-fiction.

I can relate to the author's parental complicated relationship. Parents have a vital role to play in their child's life, when a parent uses the abusive word on the child it creates emotional damage. That child's life.

They are lots of scars etched in the mind of the author, especially the harsh words her parents used on her while growing up. This sounds like a book that will stir different emotions in the readers.

A collection of unique memoirs and stories sounds very captivating, unique, and raw. While I am not a fan of memoirs, it still sounds incredibly interesting.
