I like the title of the book a lot. I realize that the author's life was connected with fishing but I think that it also has an implicit meaning. Fishing is a long process, boring and tiring, but in the end you get what you want; the same is with the author's life - he had a lot of different jobs, experienced a lot of things which, I believe, finally made him happy. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

I'm always hesistant when it comes to non-fiction but A lifetime of Fishing seems like an adventure story. I might give it a review after finishing it.

I also half-suspect a bore of a book, as I have read other sea tales before. Your review has made me optimistic about the read and it's quality. I especially like the various jobs the sailor tells us about along with conservation needs. Thanks for the review, it really helped me discover if the book was worth the read.

Based on the review I think this book sounds very interesting. Mr. Walsh’s life seems to be filled with adventure and excitement. I’m sure he’s developed a lot of knowledge about life at sea that would prove to be an educational read.

As a sea lover myself this book seems like an interesting read. I'm not a non fiction avid reader, but you made it sound like the author is telling us a big great adventure. Thank you for the review.

Great review. This sounds like a great book for fans of memoirs and fishing. That this non-fiction read can be described as an adventure is also a big point in the author’s favor. Congrats to the author on a great review. Thanks so much for sharing.

:no-spoil: Based on the review of A Lifetime of Fishing by Jack Walsh, this book seems like something I would be interested in reading. It tells about not only his love for fishing but all of the different occupations he has held and given up for his love of fishing. I love the fact that his parents named him "Jack" and he was considered a "Jack of All Trades". The author does a great job if pulling you in as well so you want to read more. Fantastic book all in all.

Its an adventure story about an extraordinary man going by the name Jack Wrekford Waish who after studying up to college still leaves insurance family company to concentrate on commercial fishing and diamond diving in open sea. His family in generations concetrated in insurance industry but he thought otherwise about fishing. He sold the insurance company that he got nothing from just to concentrate on commercial fishing. The story generally is about the author's moments of his life in the sea.If you love adventure stories then you are in the right place because the book I swear will take your breathe away. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to travel fictionally in the sea and see what the author goes through everyday as part of his lifetime.

It's always nice when our expectations are exceeded when it comes to reading! I like how you describe Jack's relationship with the sea like it's an intimate friendship; a lifelong bond that cannot be severed. It is obvious that Jack had the sea in his blood and I am glad that he used his knowledge and experience to help with conservation efforts. Thank you for a great review. :tiphat:

Thanks for your review! I probably would have had similar initial thoughts as you. I have no knowledge of fishing so I probably would have thought that the book would be boring. I'm pleased to hear that your initial opinion proved wrong and that it was a great read!

Seems interesting, a man's relationship with forms of fishing, his various interests, business and experiences. Thanks for the review.

My favorite part of this review is the comment about the dry yellowfin. So funny! I'm glad the reviewer's expectation was exceeded.
