This book gives a poignant glimpse into Donnie's life. It's clear that her story is one of childhood joy abruptly interrupted by hardship. The book effectively highlights the stark contrast between her curious and fun-filled early years and the disaster that irrevocates her family's dynamic.

The title speaks to the heart of the story, as I gathered from the review. Donnie's story seems emotionally gripping, and the review intrigued me to learn more about her life. Thank you for the review.

Donnie shares her life story, particularly her childhood. Her father lost his working tools and his car; he couldn't earn a living anymore and became depressed. If only he had received the help he needed back then, all the tragedy could have been avoided. I read the sample and I was surprised to see how short were the chapters.

The impact of tragedy on relationships are unimaginable, let alone when its involving a child. Aimee Goodwin-Cole's "Grief is the Price We Pay for Love" gently tells the story of young Donnie's happy early years, showing how a family disaster deeply changed her life and honestly reveals the tough feelings that come with loving someone.

It's sad to know that the happy family unit that Donnie knew was subjected to challenges that threw them apart. I hope Donnie was able to cope and emerge the better for it.

In "Grief is the Price We Pay for Love," young Donnie shares the events of the first eight years of her life, both happy and sad. Donnie was born into a happy home and had a happy childhood, but disaster struck in 1956, leading her dad into depression and heavy drinking. When her dad unexpectedly commits suicide, young Donnie doesn't know how to get rid of or lessen the grief, but she knows that he would want her to be happy. Congrats on BOTD!
