Re: Review of Healing from Growing Up with a Narcissistic Parent

Post by María Andrea Fernández Sepúlveda »

Someone very dear to me grew up with a narcissistic parent, so it bugs me that people use the word narcissistic to qualify anyone who has some toxic traits. I'm glad this book brings clarity to such an important topic and helps people heal since it's a very hard journey.
Thank you for your review.

This book looks like it covers all the different aspects of dealing with narcissistic parents very thoroughly. I'm sure it could help a lot of people who have grown up in this situation. It could also help determine that we are not acting in a narcissistic way toward loved ones in our lives as well.

This book's cover beckons readers interested in a deeper understanding of narcissism and its healing process. This issue, more widespread than we often realize, can be a significant challenge. This book has the potential to be a valuable resource for those seeking to understand and heal from narcissism. Thank you for your candid review.
I look forward to the resolution of the font size issue. Congratulations to the author on BOTD honours.

Thank you for your informational review. This might be a difficult book for me to read, but I would like to try it. The small font might be a problem though. I appreciate the warning. I'm glad you enjoyed the book and the editing was so well done. I hope others will learn a lot from this book like you did and it can help those who have lived through this.

I'm really interested in reading this book. I do wonder, however, if the author is referring to narcissism in the colloquial sense or in the psychopathological sense?

I am reading a similar book right now called, "Adult Children of Immature Parents," and part of me wonders if what has become the common use for narcissism doesn't just fit a bit better with the label "emotionally immature."

Food for thought. Good review!

The emotional pain of growing up feeling unloved by narcissistic parents. The book provides a detailed explanation of narcissism and its impacts, using compelling stories like that of a narcissistic wife and her husband’s tragic fate to illustrate the topic’s sensitivity.

Growing up being surrounded by narcissists is detrimental to the child's worldview and value-building process. The book guides you to unlearn the destructive, crumbling foundation and replace it with a resilient, ever-evolving one. Although I think some parts lack believability, I appreciate the effort.
I write the best reviews possible. :idea2:

"Healing from Growing Up with a Narcissistic Parent" by Kelly Todd seems interesting.
Narcissists seem to be everywhere spreading negativity without caution. I can't imagine the pain of a child who had to pine for parental love and care. This book is highly needed in the society currently. Congrats on BOTD. Great review.

Growing up with a narcissistic parent can cause severe trauma and affect the child's future relationships. But narcissism doesn't just affect children; it can affect several people and be present in multiple relationships.

Your review mentions the small font. Have you tried enlarging the font size on your screen? I can do this on the Kindle and my laptop at the top of the screen.
Reading this book sounds like an emotional roller coaster for anyone. I can not imagine dealing with not feeling loved by a parent. Thank you for an in-depth review of this book.

I think this could be an interesting and informative read. I dealt with a narcissist before, luckily not at the hands of my parents, which I'm grateful for but it was someone close to me. It's always good to get some other perspectives. Thanks for a great review. Congrats on BOTD.

The book examines how the behaviors of a narcissistic parent affect their children's self-esteem, relationships, and emotional growth. By providing detailed examples and descriptions, the work provides a solid foundation that helps readers identify patterns in their own experiences. This first level of understanding is essential for any healing process, as it makes it easier for affected people to recognize the origin of their emotional wounds.

Narcissism is a very negative quality that impose pain and suffering to those who happen to be subject to it. If someone close to you, may it be a parent or marital partner, has this nasty quality, it may damage your mental wellness and character. I would love to read the book to gain more insights about narcissism and how one can help from being exposed to it.
