I also don't usually listen to books because I can't concentrate on them. Your review has made me curious about the audiobook on this one. However, after reading your review and a small sampling of the book I am not sure I can handle listening to the author tell the story himself. I had tears in my eyes by page 6 just reading. I can only imagine the heartbreak you must have experienced listening to him tell it aloud.

The book's cover caught my attention. I thought it was a sci-fi/fantasy novel. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate the author honesty in this uplifting story. You review makes me want to know about the meaning of the draggons and butterflies. But memoirs aren't my thing.

What an excellent review! Thank you! (I'm also an English teacher...yay! ❤️)

Filled with strength and wisdom, today's BOTD is a memoir in which the author shares his difficult journey of obstacles faced and lessons learned at various points throughout his life. Readers who enjoy personal stories of love, forgiveness, and healing will find this to be inspirational and full of hope. Thank you again for your helpful review and keep up the great work! :-)

'I was able to focus on the story he was telling and hear his emotions as he described his journey from being an abused child, to his life as an addict, and finally to his becoming a successful author.'
A good audio book does indeed makes a listener focus.

I have listened to some audiobooks but to be honest, I enjoy manually reading the book. This one seems to be quite interesting and I would like to try the audiobook version of it.
Thanks for the detailed review!

The review makes me want to listen to this audiobook even though I'm also not a fan of audiobooks, Johnnie Calloway's journey seems really inspiring and motivational. The meaning behind the title of the book intrigued me and I love that it is very intentional. Thank you for your honest and relevant review, I will consider listening to it since it could really help me to face any challenges in my personal life.

The audio book version has the benefit of making it very alive and and immerse yourself into the story, emotions. The traumatizing memories are exposed well this way. Very emotional and honest

I, too, find audiobooks to be difficult and prefer an actual book, but this does sound like one that would be a good exception to the rule. It sounds as if the author's story is rather incredible while also heartbreaking, so I'm sure having him read it only adds to the emotion.

Definitely not my cup of tea, because the stages of life of the author, both as an abused child and as an addict, aren't the topics I would like to get more information about. The subjects are very sensitive and hard to witness even as a secondhand experience. Congrats with BOTD, anyway!
