Voices of hope is a book in which the author gives the voices of hope for the other people who became the victims of rape and violence accidently because she decided it to take this step after becoming the victim of violence. Thanks for your review.

I've read at least one account of the aftermath of a rape before, but that was a fictional novel, so to see it done in a memoir will be something I need to brace myself for. It looks to be eye opening in a way that's both educational and extremely saddening, given the content and the fact that we even need such a book. I'm glad the author got to move on though, because so many victims never do, and I'm looking forward to learning about her experiences.

This does sound like an interesting view on rape victims as well as there loved ones. Must books that I have read a long this line most only reveal only issues surrounding the victim. Yet it does have ab effect on their loved ones as well.

Wow, I can't imagine how life-altering that event had been for the author and for other victims as well. I am genuinely happy to know that she overcame such debacle and even became an advocate for other victims of sexual assault.

A book about rape and the effects on the surrounding supporters as well as the survivor sounds compelling. You did a nice job on your review. Thanks.

I have never experienced what the author did so I can't really can't understand what she and her family went through. I can sympathize however, any trauma to a survivor or family is horrendous. Rape must be a horrible thing and not everyone can move past the trauma. Thank you for your review.

Thank you for the great review! I know what you mean when about changing the writing format in the middle of the story. It throws off the rhythm and sometimes the interest.

Talking about a powerful subject like this is extremely important. Giving personal accounts, especially with a relatively positive ending, can definitely be motivating for those going through a similar situation. Similarly this is good for those who don't know how to interact with someone who has gone through a similar trauma.

I can't imagine the pain the author and her family went through. It's so difficult to bounce back into life after such a tragic incident. My heart reaches out to the author. It's an inspiring back to read about a strong woman like the author. It's not easy to write about this incident. Thanks for the detailed review.

I agree with your rating and I think that this could be fixed in a final editing pass. I think that your explanation is probably accurate and that she had something else planned for the end, but did not follow through with it. I like that she named the title of her book after her organization and I also liked that she chose not to talk about her rape in detail. I think that this book is a life line for people who have experienced trauma.

This book sounds like it's meant to people that know someone who's been raped. That's a nice idea. I wouldn't know how to be a good friend to someone who's life might have just turned around that quickly and this way. It obviously must have an impact to everyone around that person, and by not knowing how to act they can even get things worse...

A memoir with a beauty for ashes plot and the resilience of the human spirit. Talk of purpose in pain. A victim of rape becomes an advocate and voice if hope for other rape victims. Wow a must read for me. A very insightful review

Rape victims are human beings with feelings like you and me. You just can't imagine what a rape victim feels unless you're in his or her shoes. But this book helps you to get an understanding, not only what rape victims feel, but also what others around them feel. Even if I wouldn't have gone for a memoir, I'll definitely read this book. I appreciate the courage of the author to help others like her even if there's a chance of remembering what happened to her awakening her demons.

From a sampling, this is a very vivid and powerful story about how rape can change a victim's life and the lives of those around her forever. As a nonfiction recounting, it is worth a second look. Well done on the book.

I think the author is very brave to not only chronicle the traumatic time in her life, but also get out of it and help others in similar situations.

Thank you for the great review.
