Thank you for a masterful review. From your review and the sample I read, I would like to finish the book. Amanda is an interesting person in her own right and tells her story very openly so that we can all understand what it means in her life. It is a good warning to others that their religious lives might be changing subtly and allow them to think through this threat to their wellbeing.

Yes, there seem to be a fair few people that I know who are unhappy with their church. Not being a churchgoer myself, I don’t know whether I would be particularly interested in this book, especially if there are a lot of details like letters about windows and church fees!

This is a great story line although it seems that the norm now in various religious institutions. I will look up for the book as it seems to contain many lessons to learn. Great review!

I love your review! It is well written and thought provoking. I dare to conjecture from a parent's perspective, perhaps she was keeping her daughter out of the mainstream of the story out of the innate nature of parents to protect their children? Although, it doesn't seem to detract from the main storyline based on your review. You've peaked my curiosity, I would read this not only for curiosity sake, but also because I believe it is an issue that should be expounded on to enlighten anyone of faith to look for the truth and not just blindly follow someone because they use the title of "X."

This book has an inner beauty of reality as it is, which so many churches changing their teachings and doctrines and others forming new churches,it's hard to tell which one is real. if there's one thing this book has taught me as a person, it's to always believe in what I think is right in the sight of God.

It's encouraging that the book reassures those going through faith crisis. At least they are made to feel that they are not alone. I'm sure the recommended category will enjoy reading the book. Thank you for your incredible review.

This seems like a highly relatable read and would surely be useful for church-goers. However, based on the review, I feel it's a bit slow-paced and would only please those who enjoy an easy-going memoir, though the subject is thought-provoking. I really enjoyed reading your analysis. Thanks for the review.

This book seems to go in detail about the changing paradigms of modern churches.

This is a detailed review about a book which deals with a subject that I encountered from church when I had to attend it as a child. Even at this age I could sense the hierarchies in the church and I could feel the humiliation that my mother suffered as a divorced woman in the 1960's. I would imagine that this book would also make me even happier that I have long since discovered science and do not need religion, especially this type, to provide answers in life for me. I do not doubt the sincerity of the author or the reviewer, I am just pleased that the subject is not a sensitive one for me.

I think I’d be interest to read about the author’s perspective on the situation because she remained objective on the issue. It’s heard to read a book when all you can hear is bitterness in in the writing.

I like that the author didn't resort to slander despite the pain and betrayal she felt. She is a strong woman with nothing but love for the church in her heart.

The overwhelming amount of details intimidate me as someone not familiar with church life, but I suppose this has its pros as well: it gives you a very vivid picture of the events as they happen, making it easier to relate to the author's struggles. It sounds like a really interesting first-person account that even non-Christians might find value in. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for your wonderful and thorough review! It had me thinking about a similar situation my parents and I experience with the Seventh-day Adventist Church when I was 15 years old. It's such a sad shame that humans have managed to ruin religion, turning it into something it was never intended to be. Today's believers are slandering God's name and character unfortunately
