I don't like poetry, but not because I don't understand it. My problem with English poetry is due my language level, since it is not my native it is quite hard to catch the meaning of all those rhymes and rhythms to really appreciate the beauty. Unfortunately, the book can't help me with this, so I will have to pass it. Still congrats on BOTD!

It appears that the book is straight-to-point and simple to understand. But, I am not into poetry. So, I am going to pass this one. Thanks for this great review.

I am not a poetry fan mainly because I also have a hard time understanding how to interpret it. I don't know if I would understand it even with a book that teaches you how to interpret! I am going to check it out and see if I can learn to enjoy poetry! Thanks for the excellent review!

A truly educational book about poetry and the authors' commendable attempt to help readers understand poetry through his 12 commandments. Using humor throughout the dry explanations is smart and adds so much to the book, in my opinion. Congrats on the BOTD!

Making Sense of Poetry is non-fiction that helps readers understand the richness of poetry. I agree with the official reviewer that poetry can be complex and challenging especially when it uses old English and there are words I have not seen before or do not know their definition. This book provides the tools needed to overcome these challenges.

The author defines his 12 commandments for poetry, a term I was totally unfamiliar. These commandments are a step-by-step guide for interpreting poems, a process that I will definitely want to remember. I also found the book to be educating and an interesting read and should be everyone's bookshelf if they plan to read and interpret poems. Hard to believe a word like pretty meant cunning in the 1300s while it has a totally different meaning today. Very good review.
